As good as it gets. An old fascinating and historical pub Built into the cliff side ,Great old architecture, lots of small rooms over two floors. With two outdoor areas. Very nice food and menu selection. Helpful and friendly staff. A must visit for all ,Ghosts Included.
Iconic landmark, being England's oldest Inn, 1189AD.nnVisited once in the 90s and this time capsule allure remains the same today.nnNestled in the bedrock below Nottingham castle, it is a veritable warren of small cosy nooks, all with names, to delight in.nnMy visit this time was neither rushed or a drunken one so I could saver the charms and enjoy the great choice of well kept ales.nnMany of the customers are passing tourist so has a propensity to be busy much of the time. If you wish to savour ambience, look at the various photos etc then I would suggest a mid-week visit just after the kitchen has closed and it settles down.nnThere is a covered courtyard for those wishing to vape or smoke.nnStar attraction that I recall from the nineties is the galleon model, in a case that has hundreds of years of dust and cobwebs.
Great experience, bit of wait at bar but to be expected as is such a popular place. Booked table for food and had to change choices couple of times as they had run out of first and second choices. But when food came was hot and really tasty and not a long wait. All ln all a must place to visit.
A visit to Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is like stepping back in time. Known as one of the oldest pubs in England, this legendary inn claims to have been established in 1189 AD. Whether the exact founding date is debated or not, the sense of history is undeniable.nnBuilt into the sandstone cliffs below Nottingham Castle, parts of the pub are carved directly into the rock, creating a unique and atmospheric interior that feels like a medieval hideaway. The caves were once used as a brewhouse for the castle above and are now part of the pub itself – truly a remarkable setting.nnI especially appreciated how the pub preserves its historical identity, with plaques, antique decor.nnThis isn’t just a pub – it’s a cultural and historical experience. A must-visit for anyone in Nottingham. Highly recommended!
A very unique pub given the history behind it and it’s well maintained. Can accommodate a lot of people but given the old design, tall people will have to mind their heads. Staff is friendly and efficient and they do have a fair selection of beers. Didn’t try the food but did see a few great dishes being carried to other tables. A few parking spaces could be found along the street close by.
