On a random stroll to Verulamium on a hot Saturday afternoon, we popped in for drinks. The place was buzzing, wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves here. Despite being so busy, the plentiful bar staff were quick to serve - I was asked about four times if I had been served yet! Fantastic customer service. The drinks were perfect and reasonably priced. Excellent!
Sure! Here’s a polished and heartfelt Google review you can use:nnnnWe recently held our engagement party here and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. Our waitress always served with a smile and was extremely efficient throughout the evening. The bar staff were just as amazing, even helping to clear our tables before our reservation began. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough – the staff alone make it truly special. Thank you for making our celebration unforgettable!
Came here on a very random visit to St. Albans....nWhat a find!nThe building and interior are VERY traditional in all aspects, with low beamed ceilings, rustic carpets and furniture but it's very fitting and cosy even though the pub is huge and has a few rooms/seating areas.nIt's located a stones throw away from the cathedral impressive looking btw and right on the river and with lake views.. perfect!nThe food was super tasty and cooked to perfection, steak and chips and fish and chips all freshly cooked with good sized portions for a reasonable price.nWhat really makes this place is the Staff, they all seem mainly young I'm old but are really professional, attentive and go above and beyond to make your time spent here to be a wonderful experience even when the place is heaving and super busy....nA massive special thanks to the lovely lady staff member forgot to ask her name who found an umbrella for me and my daughter as it started to rain when we were leaving! Really made our day!nWe will definitely return in the future for a planned visit!
Charming, historic pub with real character. You can feel the centuries in the beams and low ceilings. It’s cozy and lively, with a nice terrace and garden by the river. The beer and food are solid. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is both casual and relaxed.
On a reasonably bright summer Sunday we were pleasantly surprised to get a table here without much difficulty. Service was rapid and friendly and the food if a little on the expensive side was more than acceptable. Can’t speak to the rooms since we just popped in for lunch.
