Very reasonable price for Aldeburgh and very nice, spacious rooms. An amazing breakfast was included, and the staff were very helpful and friendly - even assisting us when one of our party was attacked by a seagull. Great location right in the centre but off the main road. There is no onside parking but plenty of places nearby. The rooms are over the bar, so we could hear noise from downstairs, but it didn't get too loud or go on too late. Rooms: They only have 3 double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, but all are nicely decorated with original features in each room. There is a lovely extra seating area with extra tea and coffee making facilities and a few books and board games. Nearby activities: Lots of good walks check out the local books store for a selection of walking routes or just head to the beach, with the martello tower in one direction and thropeness and the shell sculpture in the other, the beach of course, amazing variety of shops including lots of independent local businesses, over in Thorpeness you have the mere where you can rent a row boat to explore the islands or stop for a drink and snack across the road with an excellent junk shop in the back, Snape Maltings up the road is a must see with their excellent shop and choice of cafes, concerts are held here throughout the year and boat trips can be taken down the river, of course no trip to Aldeburgh would be complete without fish and chips on the beach! Both fish and chip shops are owned and run by the same people and are just as tasty, so don't end up in a big queue for no reason. If you are eating your fish and chips on the beach, watch out for the seagulls. There is a £2500 fine if you are caught feeding them, and they can be aggressive in their pursuit of your lunch. Walkability: In terms of getting to the town, all you have to do is leave the building and turn one way for the beach and the other way for the shops. In terms of accessibility all the rooms are up very narrow, steep staircase. It is a very old building and is of its time in that regard with no wheelchair accessibility that we could see. My 88 year old grandmother managed very well despite this.
If you are visiting Aldeburgh and find yourself in Crabbe Street do take the time to pop into the Cross Keys and enjoy a local ale from the Admams Brewery, they have a grand selection on offer. The food is excellent and of course fish & Chips is on the menu. What a treat to visit the Cross Keys. I have no hesitation in recommending
Super pub, warm and friendly with a good selection of beers and wines. Service was excellent and welcoming. Really enjoyed our night there thanks.
We had a walk along the coast to Aldeburgh and stopped here for a quick drink. The staff were polite and friendly. Inside was warm with plenty of seating though we decided to sit outside.Service: 5/5
This is a nice little pub blink and you will miss it that serves tasty meals and a good pint of beer. The pub gives a warm and cosy ambient feel particularly after stepping inside this lunchtime and getting out of the rain.
A very helpful lady showed us to a table ans made us welcome.Pretty nice place, good beer, good food and dog freindly.
Great place. Happy staff who really want to help. Lovely food served quickly. We will be back.Service: 5/5
The Adnams share of the local area could be off-putting, but actually they do run nice pubs we've been to most locally and the Adnams products are pretty good. This is great, only niggle is the fire wasn't lit last visit and its a GREAT fireplace.
We enjoyed a quick drink before dinner. Good atmosphere and choice of drinks. Nice log burner.
I stay here through work for one evening and I found this hotel to be very nice. I ate here on the evening and the food was lovely, my room was very comfortable and well kept and clean. Overall I found this a good place to stay and would be happy to come back here myself.
