Good for a boozy afternoon watching the football or a quick bite in town. Food OK at best. Was very understaffed when we visited. Would suit students and stag do more than quiet cosy night out. Toilets are downstairs though staircase is wide.
The food is excellent quality pub grub. The establishment is well set out and the booths offer comfortable seating. The only drawback is the toilets are downstairs. There is a disabled toilet but if the bar is busy it can be off putting trying to obtain the key.
When I worked in the city centre I often came in after work. I have made very good friends with the locals and barstaff. The food is always nice. I had my hen party for the cocktail master class package. Gary and Charlie were excellent and got all my hens in fits of laughter and was a very good atmosphere. Very cost effective. Cheap food and cheap drink. Food is okish, but avoid the Sunday lunch as it tastes like its from a TV dinner that's been bought from the Tesco down the road. really busy at times. Service can be really slow, especially when there is 1 or 2 servers when the bars full, and they prefer to serve regulars before you even if are standing there first. So if you in rush...avoid. and toilets are downstairs with no elevator or haven't seen 1
Food wasn't the best especially for the price but management replaced it and gave us each a free drink. Overall good experience but they need to clean there bar floor think my shoes may still be stuck to it
Probably more of a 2.5, but 2 stars means 'disliked it' and it wasn't all that bad. Yates, much like Wetherspoons, pub grub, usual drinks, order at the bar type place. I had some time to kill while waiting on someone and it was almost deserted at 5pm on a weeknight. Food was good value and arrived in good time, although the taste was decidedly 'meh'.
Went into Yates for the first time last night for one drink after our dinner. At 12 the lights came up and my boyfriend and I got up put our jackets on and were gathering our things to leave. Despite the place still being full with people seated still drinking and wanting to party on a woman bouncer came up to us and said "can you drink whatever the hell that is and go". WE WERE UP FROM OUR TABLE AND MAKING TRACKS ALREADY. And when I told her we were finished and up to leave she responded with saying "okay" in my face in a very intimidating tone. A gentleman bouncer even looked over in shock. Never written a review in my life but thought the way we were treated was diabolical. Will not be coming back even though our one drink was lovely.
No real atmosphere. Slow service. Been there twice, second time to give it another chance. Would not recommend it. Prefer Weatherspoons to it any day
Four of us went in on Friday 28th March around 7.30 pm and ordered food and drink after some time waiting when the food came we got our starters and our main at the same time and was told we will need to hurry up because they wanted to clear tables away for the dance floor, it was bad enough the food was not very hot my wife said hers was cold but was hungry and choose to eat it thinking it would be ok little did she know she would be sick all night and it wasn't the drink as she was driving.This is the first time I have left a review for anything like this but it was that bad I felt like I had to do something, I recommend going to somewhere else or go hungry just keep away
Staff horrendous and lazy. Showed no interest in serving waiting customers. Attitude stank and never ever smiled. Will actively advise people to steer well clear.
