A solid choice for an American diner experience. This is a Zak's restaurant, so if you've been there, it's a similar quality of experience which is good! I had The Texas Combo, which had plenty of food and each part of the meal was enjoyable. The Western burger was also good from what I was told. Lots of stuff to look at on the walls, good music to listen to and there was some historical sporting stuff on the telly. Worth a look.
Awesome restaurant, really friendly staff. The garlic wings were amazing, I nearly had to fight my brothers for the last one! Burgers were great too! Reasonably priced, high quality and welcoming atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend. X
Absolutely lovely waitress, well cooked food and nice atmosphere and open all afternoon so we had a long leisurely lunch. I only dropped a star because I've been coming for so long, I'm a bit bored with the menu. But their deal for 2 for 1 on burgers is outstanding, and if you feel in the mood for this place and the type of food on the menu, then it's faultless. There's parking if you're lucky close by, or in the King Street car park for free after 4pm. Which is a 2 minute walk, or 5 minutes or less from market gates bus station.
Really good food, big portions so bring a big appetite, really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Kid-friendliness: They have highchairs which is always a plus and they were very friendly with my daughter.
I ordered the party size chicken wings they said it cones with 8 pieces. At first I was like £12 for 8 pieces? What a rip off but the wing and drumstick are still connected and they count that as one piece. So it's definitely worth getting the party size. But you're not allowed to mix and match flavors which is a shame because the normal size cone with 4 pieces so why can't you choose two flavors for the party size? Over all the taste was pretty good and the portion size is good. Would probably come back to try their other flavored wings.
PUT A GROWN UP IN CHARGE! We visited this evening and no one appeared to be in charge or supervising. Two teenage waiting staff who spent too much time away from the tables and a couple of young chefs. Under the previous owners, there was always a supervisor/manager controling the room, the staff and the customers. This is sadly now not the case. Service was too slow - our table was 6.30 and we left at 8.10 and we only had a main course. We waited for menus for desserts but they left it too long so we asked for the bill. The food hasnt changed under the new owners still with massive portions. In the time of food poverty and ridiculous food waste, portions need to be smaller. I sent back a large amount of food I couldnt eat salad and chips. One of our party took half home in a box. Big mistake selling off the bar area and blocking it off as that created much of the atmosphere that sadly, Yankee Traveller now lacks. Vegetarian options: Only burger and fajita options available. Kid-friendliness: Child menus available. Parking: Street parking or pay and display a short distance away. Wheelchair accessibility: Impossible as there are three-four steps and narrow door.
We had a lovely meal here last week. Something got lost in translation with our meals as it took a long time for the food to come but this wasn't too much of a problem as the atmosphere and music was great as well as the company so the time flew by. Have been here many times and will come back many times I'm sure. Delicious food and a return to form after a year or so off the pace!
The girl was working on her own as the other staff had called in sick. And she did a fantastic job serving all the customers with food, drinks and taking people to their tables. The place has been taken over since I last went and the food was still very nice.Food: 4/5
Used to love it here, was renowned for its super sized plates of food, sadly this is no more. Portion sized has been cut, less chips and no coleslaw. Food is still delicious though. Kid-friendliness: Good sized kids portions.
We were really disappointed with our visit this time round. We have been regularly but sadly we won't be returning. The food has changed recently, nowhere near as good quality and the portions were really small in comparison to previous visits. We had the chilli burger and there was barely any on there which was really disappointing. My brownie was really awful as well, it was so dry and not a great flavour. The service was good and everyone was friendly, but it was very slow. They were great for our son who has allergies and intolerances. Just not the same anymore which is sad!
