Absolutely outstanding meal at Y Polyn recently. Haven’t been in the last few years and it was definitely worth the trip. Had the Tagliatelle to start at the portions are more than Generous. Could pass for a main meal and really delicious freshly made pasta. Main course was the Hake, which was cooked to perfection! Would definitely recommend ordering a side of the tender stem broccoli with pine nuts. A bit on the pricier side but the quality makes it totally worthwhile. Saw some wonderful looking deserts during our visit so might swap the pasta for something sweet next time. Will definitely be back soon!
Absolutely stunning Sunday Lunch at Y Polyn. Beautiful food, relaxed atmosphere. My first visit post lockdown and an absolute reminder of why I need to get back to this part of the world more often. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
We had a wonderful meal here on Saturday night. Food was so good, service impeccable and a really chilled atmosphere would definitely return and recommend anyone visiting or living in the area to go, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Food: 5/5
Delicious Sunday lunch. Beetroot salad, roasted pork with chorizo, orange cheesecake. Prices seem to have jumped £10 a head recently and a little more fancy. £45 for 3 course without beverages But taste was good.
Lovely lunch meal here today with friends. Couple of choices on starters, mains and desserts. Staff were amazing! Can't wait to return. They should utilise the outdoor space more and even do BBQ nights.
Fantastic food at what we thought to be very fair pricing for the standard. Great service from friendly staff - they were understanding and accommodating in a tricky situation which meant we turned up with a smaller party than we originally booked for. A must visit.
Found Y Polyn in the Michelin Guide whilst researching places to visited during a short break in South Wales. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and were very impressed particularly at the price of £45 a head for three courses, a bargin for this level of cooking. My highlights were the shaved Wye Valley aspargus and rocket salad starter served with loads of shaved parmesan, amazingly crispy croutons and a wonderfully lemony dressing; and the baked white chocolated cheese cake served with roasted plums and ice cream, super indulgent! Its a shame this restaurant is so far from my house as I would be a regular if it was closer.
Been visiting here for years and it never dissapoints. Visited for Sunday lunch today for the first time and everything was incredible. Great bread, great duck rillette, crispy pork belly was out of this world, side order of dauphinoise potatoes were delicious. Desserts were probably even better, delicious plum frangipane with plum ice cream and a fantastic rhubarb knickerbocker glory. Make sure you book in advance as it always seems busy
Checked the review before we booked a table as we normally do. The lady, who served us was really friendly and the rest could be much friendlier if we had ordered more drinks. The food was very disappointing. I believe the chef had put lots of effort into preparing it. However, I'm sorry to say the result left much to be desired. Starters were ok. We liked the duck with plum sauce. My steak is nothing special. It was no better than a random pub steak we had the night before. My son, an avid good steak lover, didn't show much interest in my dish. The specially prepared sauce didn't go with steak at all. A normal peppercorn sauce would have sufficed. My husband's lamb is very dry. It tasted like somebody had shredded a piece of over-cooked lamb last night and slapped it together somehow. For the price they charge, I don't think it is acceptable!
A lovely recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Great food with a warm welcome & excellent service
