The food was so good i enjoyed my lunch.. the staffs was friendly specially 'Lewis ' he was so helpful
It’s so rare to get real home cooked food in a pub these days but the owners of the Wrygarth delivered again. Sad to see their closing at end of October 22 but we wish them the very very best.
Myself and the hubby visit the area regularly to stay in our motor home locally, we have been to the pub often for drinks but never eaten here, we decided that we should try the food so went for a Saturday evening meal and a few drinks, on arrival 6pm ish the pub was pretty quiet, we found a dog friendly table then I went to the bar to get some drinks and a menu, our order was taken for steak pie and gammon both served with chips and peas, after a fairly long wait our meals arrived, both the pie and gammon was ‘ok’ but both meals were served with chips that looked like they’d been cooked more than once and very bitty, no actual whole chips just like the scraps out of the bottom of a frozen bag! Portions were a bit child like too I didn’t even get asked if everything was ok when I went to pay our bill so that kind of says it all to me. All in all we were so disappointed that we left not bothering with dessert or even another drink. Maybe we went on a bad day but very much doubt we will go again which is a shame.
Lovely countryside inn. Just off the Trans Pennine Trail so perfect place to stop off. Very dog friendly with outside seating and indoor dog-friendly area. Good range of craft ales & delicious burgers.
We really enjoyed our lunch at this homely friendly local. Fantastic home cooked food lovely friendly service covid safe and very dog friendly. Crazy golf was a fabulous bonus we had the course to ourselves. Will definitely revisit when next in the area. Walked here with my Cocker Spaniel from Hornsea along trans pennine walkway 1 hours walk recommended to other dog walkers
Stopped by after booking for a meal with family to celebrate a birthday… I’m sure after this experience he wishes to never have another birthday again. Staff were reasonably friendly however seemed clueless after leaving us to stand at the bar without showing us to our tables or even taking a drinks order. We only ordered main meals for 5 which took about 35 minutes - the ‘pub’ what very quiet. Once the food had arrive you could tell the burgers had been sat under what I can only assume is a 50 year old salamander grill for 30 minutes as the cheese had melted and turned back into a solid. Never in my life have I eaten a pie cooked in gravy that is still dry. The food was tasteless. There was then a power cut and while the bar staff laughed this off with the ‘regulars’ we were left without explanation or an apology. I think regardless of food, for the power cut, having to ask to be seated and for someone to take our drinks ordered the meal should have been discounted. I would not recommend nor return
I drive past the Wrygarth Inn on my way to work however had never visited before. My son and I called in whilst walking along the Trans-pennine way for refreshments and o was surprised to find out that as well there being lovely friendly staff there was also a small mini golf course at the back. As we were leaving there were more people arriving for Sunday lunch. Sadly we had eaten a picnic on our walk however I have made it a point to call in for lunch in the near future. I have heard from friends that the food and service is good. Kid-friendliness: Mini golf course at the back with seating area
Absolutely beautiful we've been many times & never had a bad meal from Sunday roast to steak & things in between thanks to Ray chef all staff are very friendly & approachable will definitely be back again
Had a really tasty lovely meal this afternoon and the landlady was very welcoming. Many gluten free options too. Highly recommended we will be going again
