Wringer + Mangle London Fields

About

London Fields neighbourhood hangout, serving good food and even better times.

Story

Located directly opposite the iconic London Fields Brewery and in the heart of East London’s most vibrant and stylish area, Wringer & Mangle features a 250-cover bar and restaurant. Guests are able to enjoy the great outdoors all year round, with the attractive courtyard. Reclaimed wood, creeping Russian ivy plants, flickering lights and Victorian lamps create a charming setting that guests will want to linger in day and night.

The light and spacious inside area features French doors opening out onto the terrace. Combining both the contemporary and the classic, the industrial cement interior is juxtaposed with retro adverts, mismatched tables, Chesterfields and wingback chairs. The space features artistic attractions such as a giant light box lit with Victorian bulbs, a copper tubing sculpture and an exhibition of local photography and art from in and around Hackney. An indoor pergola and garden area at the rear of the building brings a touch of nature inside the bustling restaurant & bar.

A long bar provides a focal point to the room where visitors can choose many interesting concoctions from an innovative menu with a unique sense of fun and attention to detail.

The reverse Collins menu asks the customer to choose their home-made soda infusion, of which there is over 20, first rather than it being added at the end as you would find in a typical cocktail. The sodas range from the sweet to the sublime with beetroot and vanilla, lime and honey and peppermint. With over 30 variations on the classic Tom Collins the menu offers a new way of creating and drinking cocktails with everything from whiskey infused duck fat roasted walnuts to eucalyptus syrup the menu offers a drink for every taste.

Very cute brunch spot in hackney. The food was delightful and the garden is so pretty. We did the bottomless brunch on a summers morning and found that it was great value for money. The inside is lovely too if you fancy it in the winter.
Last month, I was lucky enough to head down to Wringer and Mangle Spitalfields and preview their new menu. Upon arrival, one of the waiters greeted me with an orange short welcome drink-‘Local’s only.’ This is Wringer and Mangle’s take on an Aperol Spritz; in this short glass Stoli Vodka, Aperol, Montenegro, Cinzano 1757 Sweet Vermouth, Segura Viudas Brut Reserva was used poured over some ice. The month of September was relatively still warm, so the Local’s only was a great cocktail to have in my hand. After the long day of work I had, I was definitely in need of something refreshing to sip on. So how is this different from an average Aperol Spritz? I would say that the Local’s only is sweeter and has more fizz than the average Aperol Spritz. I almost find Aperol spritz to normally be quite bitter but Wringer and Mangle have nailed this, although I was not expecting anything less from their award-winning mixologists. Our table was not quite ready yet, so I enjoyed my drink and mingled in conversation. The table was finally ready and all guests were seated, once seated I found in front of me a beautiful handwritten place card. This was a nice touch and I felt as if an old friend had invited me to dinner, this definitely gave a great first impression. Wringer and Mangle pride themselves of having a home-cooked style, which I can agree with, as freshly baked bread arrived in a Brown paper bag as a sharing starter. Tearing the paper bag I felt the warm residue of steam hit my hand whilst releasing the aroma of the sweet smelling bread. I have to say that this is probably one of the yummiest bread I have ever eaten. The top layer is crusty and hard on the outside with the centre being very dewy, soft and sweet. Mixed with olive oil and sun-dried tomatoes this was the business. My main starter was the crispy pigs head croquette in tartar sauce with apples and radishes. I always love to try something different and pig’s head sounded like something I should choose, so why not. With a crispy surface, this once bitten into meets the shredded pig’s head centre, which was well seasoned and went down a treat, especially when smothered in the tartar sauce. I regrettably did not choose the 50-degree cooked salmon but was able to sneak a bite from my friend. Divine! Just divine, cooked at 50 degrees the salmon retains a dewy and moist texture and appearance but tastes like cooked salmon. This is a must try and is the highlight of the menu. For my main, I decided to take the Merlot braised beef cheeks with red cabbage and celeriac. The Merlot in the beef really aided in adding flavour and making the beef rich in taste. The beef was well cooked and effortlessly melted in my mouth, I just wish there was some mash or potatoes that would have accompanied the beef as it was not too filling. The main was paired with house red wine, but I am a white wine lover, so I opted for Pinot Grigio house white wine which was on the sweeter side but was paired well with the dinner options. For dessert, I chose the red and black fruits, elderflower curd, chia granola. To be honest, I am not really a dessert kind of girl, so I didn’t end up finishing the dessert but it was refreshing and had a sweet infused taste of fruit followed by a sour taste of the curd and crunchy texture of the granola. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at Wringer and Mangle, they achieved the laid back and home-style cooking feel which they were trying to convey, and the food tasted very natural and not too saturated. Price: ££ What to wear: Casual I just wore a jumper and jeans Ambience: Home-style cooking with a laid-back style
Great place in general, visiting quite often for lunches and love their salads selection, their tortilla is on point and portions are very satisfying. Staff and their service needs improvement, literally only going for the food.
Nice decor & space, good vibes, my food was nice but not amazing - staff friendly, but brunch service a bit sluggish unfortunately. A stones throw from London Fields and Broadway Market. Cool outside space which would be good in the summer / warmer months :
The place has a nice terrace to eat and good food selection. Inside it has a restaurant area at the end, which is quite big. Please note that here there is a dj, so for me, it can be a bit too noisy, but you may like it. The place also has a bar area less noisy at the entrance. I would go back again.
Amazing decor, chilled vibe and attentive service. The salads were somewhat bland, though, but I will be back for the eggs and the atmosphere.
What a place! Good food, great atmosphere and even better staff! Must go when you are around. You are not gonna regret!
Wringer and Mangle is a beautiful restaurant in London Fields with a shabby chic decor in a converted warehouse. The space is expansive with the restaurant area at the front and a huge bar area at the back with a lovely outside terrace. We loved the potted plant, climbing vines and laundry themed decor in the restaurant, which made it look pretty funky! Our meal started with the Aubergine and Mozzarella Croquettes with tomato and basil sauce £5. We were delighted to receive three huge croquettes packed with a filling which were such a bargain for the price. We were similarly impressed with the Charcuterie Plate £8 with three different meats and cheese, warm slightly toasted bread, delicious butter and olives! I felt rather spoilt with this delicious selection and everything tasted so fresh. We opted for the Pea Risotto with lemon thyme, parmesan and crispy asparagus for mains, which was another generous portion. The risotto was creamy but not sickly and the addition of the asparagus gave it an excellent texture. The 8oz Grilled Sirloin Steak £22.50 was served with grilled asparagus, chips and truffle hollandaise . The steak was cut into slices, perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was amazing. Similarly to the risotto, we loved the addition of the asparagus which you do not normally get with steak dishes. It was a Saturday evening so it was clearly cocktail time and, priced at £10, we had few! We had the Hoxton Fizz: Hoxton Pink Gin, fresh English raspberries, soda water and prosecco which was served Spirtz style. The Passion Spice: Bacardi Anejo Cuatro, raspberry puree, lemon juice, oregat, saffron and passion fruit foam was amazing! It was served bright pink and was so refreshing without being too sweet. Second round which we had for dessert included the Orient Express: Bombay Sapphire Gin, lemon & lime sherbet, mandarine juice, cardamome syrup, blueberries and vanilla syrup. Similarly to the Passion Spice it was brightly coloured and looked pretty damn awesome. The Santiago Swizzle: Bacardi Anejo Cuatro, lime juice, caster sugar, passion fruit, pineapple, mint and ginger beer was their take on a mojito. This cocktail went down very well! Wringer and Mangle is a beautiful restaurant serving great food and cocktails and has an amazing terrace area. It has a laid back atmosphere but still offers something different. We would love to return for the bottomless brunch between 11-4 on a Saturday which is £15pp unlimited bubbles with any brunch dish! The Sunday Roasts look pretty epic too. If you are looking for a great restaurant in London Fields, this is it!
Atmosphere: 5* Service: 4.5* Food: 2* read for details Unfortunately, for such a nice and well thought and decorated place, having an -albeit tasty- beef tartare with "mushroom toast" was a disappointment. Toast was pre-toasted at least an hour or two ago. Really? In a totally empty space, with at least three people in the kitchen and one was munching something seemingly having lots of time on their hands, didnt' you have time to toast a thin slice of sourdough? Now about the mushroom toast. It was exactly 9 !!! of the thinnest possible slices in a Japanese mandolin, of extremely small mushrooms about the size of my nail. If that's not a joke or taking the piss, then I've no idea what it is. Other than that service is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere super beautiful. I hope they can upgrade their food game as it totally worths it. Unril then I'll be happier in one of the numerous nice restaurants around ;
Gemma was our host and she was great! We had such a lovely bottomless brunch here - food was great as was the prosecco. They topped us up regularly which was great!
