It may have just been me but I found it a bit confusing at first as to where to go for tickets but eventually saw the signs. Unfortunately we had arrived a little late & because the next tour was 40min away meant it would be too late for us leaving so we didn't tour inside Dove cottage.nHowever the grounds were lovely to look at and took some pictures of the cottages from outside. There's a little cafe we got a sandwich, cake & drink & sat outside. Staff were all very friendly & the Sensory Garden we really enjoyed too.
a lovely spot celebrating the lives and works of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. great exhibitions and nice introductory video before the visit to the cottage itself - the member of staff who accompanied us was clearly really knowledgeable and enthusiastic and we had a nice chat about Dorothy's journals and the recent surge of scholarly interest in them. café was also lovely and serves a great sausage roll!
I was given the absolute privilege of being able to handle and read from a first edition of Wordsworth's Prelude that was owned by his daughter. This is an absolutely fantastic space and does amazing work in terms of both historical preservation and education.
Free with student art pass. Staff were very friendly. The introductory video played before our visit to the Dove cottage was well made. We had a walk in the woodland trail and it was amazing!
What a great find! This is one of the most beautiful museums I've been in. Dove cottage is brilliantly laid out, you feel transported back to the nineteenth century and expect Wordsworth and his family to return from their walk any minute. The gardens are wonderful and give beautiful views. The staff are friendly, helpful and well informed about the whole history of the family and the place. A delightful experience. If you're in the area, this is unmissable.
