We booked into one of the lodges for a long weekend break over the summer and ended up booking into the hotel and staying 3 days longer! The grounds are lovely and the food at the club house was good too. The rooms were a little dated but I felt that it fitted into the ambience of the place and they were perfectly comfortable.Rooms: 3/5
Fabulous place to be to relax and enjoy the local sights. Staff very friendly and helpful. Facilities are fantastic. One problem is the time table for the pool. Public get priority lessons which makes it difficult for hotel guests to use because it's simply not big enough.
Wow what a beautiful hotel, just had a 2 night stay with my daughter and we loved it. Fantastic facilities and so clean, but one thing to us that stood out more than anything was how nice the staff were. Right from arrival Fiona on reception was absolutly lovely, very polite and friendly. I would also like to thank Becky for getting our room ready which was spotless, great job. Also Carole the server in the restaurant was amazing and makes the best smoothies ever. Lovely lady. Also another server Ben was awesome. But my biggest thanks goes to Emma the manager, you are amazing and me and my daughter wanted to say your doing a great job and we had a lovely stay. So thankyou. We will definitely be back. All the staff I have mentioned make this hotel in my eyes one of the best. Well done and thanks again. Jo and Eve
Lovely spot in the country Devon. Bet nice 4golfers we were just passing through to stay one night .room very nice. It wasn't a standard of a deluxe but bit Dulux needed. . the bistro bar come breakfast room lounge. bit dark in the evening and the food wasn't very good. I would stay there again but will not eat there again. nice swimming pool, sauna and steam room wasn't working!? don't go 4:00 swimming filled with children and Mum's and babies which no one told us reception when we checked in at 3.
Nice room, nice facilities, golf course looked great but unfortunately in November and working in the day so didn’t get a chance to play hotel green fee rate was very good though. Service in the restaurant was patchy with a lot of waiting at the table to order each course but servers were very nice so can’t complain. Food not to bad, great they had avagato for dessert.
In low season this hotel wasn’t prepared to even move the date let alone refund our hotel stay despite us testing positive for COVID and giving them 36 hours notice. Their lack of help and understanding at us being responsible means that we won’t ever rebook with them so a total own goal on their part.Service: 1/5
Bad value for money. The price is for a luxury spa hotel, the reality is the rooms are small, ours had a bogey and other stain on the furniture. The food in the restaurant left us with a stomach ache. The changing rooms in the spa are very small. The Spa massage treatments are too quick and not good value. The swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym are the only good things.
Stayed here for a week on business . The room was OK the staff were very good especially on the front desk. What let's the place down is the food is not as good as you would expect. There seems to be a lack of communication between the kitchen and the servers. The biggest issue that you have a nice restaurant area but you have people walking.g through it and around it in gym kit going between the training suits and the pool and gym seeing people walking past your table in sweaty gym kit or scruffy gym kit when your wanting to have dinner . . Find them a different route . . This is an hotel that could be a luxury venue with a bit of effort and professionalism . Rooms: The room I had was OK but could be cleaner in the bathroom. Cracked paint and tired looking . The mattress was not good needs replacing who knows how long it's been there .
Never stayed over night but the company l work for usually have our events there. I must say that l am definitely not impressed with the food. Christmas Do; l picked stuffed mushrooms as a starter, Seabass for mains and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Starter arrived and on the plate there was 1 mushroom slightly bigger than a 50p coin, 3 leaves of rocket and a few drops of dressing. The Seabass piece couldn't have been more than 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. 3 Brussels sprouts, 2 bits of carrot. Fortunately the pudding saved the day. Fabulous sticky toffee pudding. The Summer do was even worse for a party of 200 people a buffet of burgers, sausages, buns and 2 Salads. The vegetarian option was a little tray with no more than 15 very small pieces of fish. If there was any dessert l never saw any of it. The service for the Xmas party was quite good. Staff ver friendly and helpful.
We stayed at Woodbury for just the one night as a treat to ourselves, and it didn't dissapointed. Beautiful setting, staff were amazing, really friendly, positive and nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely be back, the facilties are wonderful, a really relaxing environment to be in, and feeling so snug and Christmas.
