The B&B is in a very convenient spot, with lovely surroundings. As soon as you walk in the door you are made to feel at home, so all I can say is obviously any bad reviewers were expecting a sterile boring hotel room. John was lovely, welcoming and helpful, and even left out some art based books for me in my room to look through when he found out I was interested in art. Although it is a shared bathroom it was clean and tidy. The cooked breakfast was delicious, and John was very accommodating with me leaving my bags the morning I arrived to look around Winchester as I arrived on an early flight. Overall a homely place with a great host, and I hope to visit again!
Wolvesey View is a nice little cottage full of books. It's located in a quiet street, in walking distance to the cathedral and the town center. You'll probably feel like you're staying at a library. Free parking is available in front of the house. John, the owner gave us a warm welcome although we arrived unannounced. He was very friendly and the breakfast he prepared for us was also fine. If you are searching for neat and clean rooms this might not be the best choice for you, that's why I can't give more stars.
Mr John Holder is the nicest landlord you can find. Staying here means you feel like you're part of the family. Best room? The Yellow Room overviewing the Wolvesey Castle ruins and with the cathedral in sight. Calm area just near the River Itchen. Highly recommended!
I have been here 2 years in a row and the gentleman that runs the bed and breakfast is so very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is a excellent, a full English, toast and cereal. A lovely view from our room to the old Castle.Would highly recommend staying.
Very pleasant stay. Good location near downtown and John the host was very friendly and made a good English breakfast.
Lovely B&B with great location. John is a welcoming and helpful host; very enjoyable stay.
Mr John is very nice, i had a great breakfast and the room has absolutely everything. I felt very much at home.
Terrific breakfast, excellent company, books on every subject and your every comfort catered for.
Our week at John's house has been magnificent. He is an endearing, attentive and very friendly host, who makes you feel at home. Our room was excellent as it had great views of Wolvesey Castle and included a sink in the room itself. We were amazed by the quantity and variety of books he had in the house and that you could use. The breakfasts were a delicacy, a great English breakfast! It has been a lovely experience and one day we will return.
