The food came cold. This chicken based meal it has to super hot. The wings looks like it's been setting o the side for while and chicken katus had no or little Katus ... paid £35 for this terrible meal. The concept is great just they don't know how to execute it. You can serve wings cold , chips cold and chicken sandwiches cold ... it's not one item .. they got it cross the board wrong .. no excuse. Do not recommend it , you can't be this hit and mess .. Go somewhere else guys
Chicken strips are dry and old. Very small and thin. And when you bite into them the chicken is either dry or completely crispy and evaporates. Chips arrived cold despite waiting a decent time for them to be cooked. Chicken burger chicken was the same as the strips. It tastes old and stale and dry. Really not sure how this place even got close to a 4. We had ordered some gyoza too. But the staff member didn’t hear and didn’t add that to the order. Music is absolutely dire. Which makes a disappointing eating experience so much worse. Won’t be back.
Chicken shops in London are a ‘dime a dozen’, nothing to write home about for the majority of them, but there are some that stand out from the crowd & ‘WingWing’ is definitely one of them. For me the highlight wasn’t the chicken though, it was the prawns & calamari, perfectly seasoned & fried. Wings and drumsticks were also top notch, only downside & hence the 4 stars were the burgers, after a couple of bites the thing fell apart. Overall experience was good & service was very friendly. Will definitely be back!
I’ve always walked past this restaurant for a number of years and always contemplated whether or not to go in as it was like any other fried chicken takeaway, but last night I took the plunge to try it out. I decided to go with the 3x fried chicken drumsticks ‘Mix’ for £7.99. The ‘mix’ gave me one of each flavoured fried chicken; Soy & Garlic my favourite, Hot wasn’t as hot as I thought and Liquorice interesting flavour. The outside of the fried chicken was crispy and tasty whilst the inside was hot and juice…no redness, so perfectly cooked! One thing that bothered me was that the sauce flavourings were only ‘brushed’ on to the fired chicken rather than thickly covering them….I would have enjoyed it more if the sauce left a great lasting aftertaste after each drumstick was eaten. I would have also enhanced the flavour and experience if the inside of the chicken was covered in the sauce. Overall, I was satisfied with the chicken drumsticks, but if they consider doing what I recommended above, the would increase my rating for this restaurant.
I'm not sure why the bad reviews, maybe it depends on time of day etc but I thought the chicken was good! The fries were meh but I'd go back for the chicken! The wings and the drumsticks were decent tbf. I had 6 wings, garlic and soy flavour but they also have 'hot' and 'liquorice' the person I went with had all the flavours and I would say they were all nice. I wouldn't have the hot, it did have a kick but you could also taste the chili. I wasn't sure about the liquorice but I was pleasantly surprised. Basically if you want some k-style fried chicken and you're in the area, it's tasty!
Best chicken I ever had. The Russel square branch makes slightly better chicken than the Tottenham Court Road one, but it's close. Soy Garlic is the best flavour, hot and extra hot are also recommendable tho to spice things up. Licorice is interesting as a distraction, but not massively better although not too bad
Seasoning is on point for soy garlic flavour as usual, fried with light batter but still crispy and doesn’t feel greasy. However, quality went downhill from the original ingredient, not juicy at all, and more worst of all, those left over fur on the wings could probably give u a down jacket very soon if u go several more times.
I ordered three drumsticks. I got the soy garlic flavour. It was too sweet for my liking and way too oily. It was cooked fresh it seemed, but just way too much oil.Food: 2/5
Wanted to try this place, heard the hype, wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I ordered a portion of the 6 wings with honey and soy. Also wanted to try calamari and prawns but was told they didn't have any prawns so I ordered a portion of 3 drumsticks in liquorice flavour which I haven't tried before I was told its sweetish. Total came to £15, didn't order any sides. Take a look at the photos, looks amazing but sadly the taste didn't meet my expectations. Chicken was very oily and with just one serviette, I had to get more to to absorb the excess grease. The chicken didn't seem cooked through, tastes bland too. The portion of wings wasn't all wings either. To be fair the honey and soy tasted nicer than the liquorice and the skin was as crispy as can be. There was toilets and a disabled toilet too. Plenty of seats. Seating outside too. Not sure if I would return though.
Wing wing is one of the group studydining places when I just enrolled at the university nearby. The atmosphere is nice and modern, I especially like the combination of "steel" and bright colors. The food is yummy, my favourites are the super crispy chicken and fries. The price is reasonable, and there used to be student discount. There is also a lovely garden at the side of the restaurant, where you can enjoy the food and drinks with the sunshine and breeze. I hope you would like Wing wing as much as I do! Ah, and the name~ Vegetarian options: There are options with tofu instead of chicken on the menu.
