Came yesterday 10/11/2024, really disappointed, what has happened? Where have the departments and cafe gone? Went across the road to the other part of the store only to find camping gear and a motorcycle museum? The choice of wellies for women were diabolical, the prices of them too was unbelievable. Came out without any, I was also looking to buy a new Regatta jacket but hardly any sizes and the prices again unbelievable, I used to come here a lot but after this visit, I won't be bothering again, totally gone down hill. The car park was practically empty too. Such a shame...
Don't order online! They don't offer free returns and state that very clearly on their returns policy. What they don't tell you is if you tell them you're returning an item before you return it, they'll send you a DPD label with a £4 discount on postage. Why they don't offer this to start with is beyond me. They don't have this advertised on their website at all and I only found out after I complained about the price of my postage. Too much hassle to shop here - don't bother.
Absolutely fabulous staff here, I went about a month ago an a lovely lady and a very polite gentleman helped my son and I get all his camping gear for the Duke of Edinburgh award. They really aided in getting us the right items, explaining to us about how things work, best budget buys and reminding us of items we may have forgotten. They did not push us to buy more or expensive items and they let my son try everything on. He walked around in his boots to check if he was comfortable. Thankyou very much. This is local to us, brilliant car park and a pleasure to visit.
I’m really concerned that the team at Winfields Outdoors don’t understand how the Consumer Rights Act works.nnAfter 12 days, 26 emails back and forth and 2 phone calls, they agreed to let me return the awning I bought from them. But instead of accepting the item as “not as described” under the Consumer Rights Act, they insisted they would only accept it as an “unwanted item”, meaning I had to pay the postage.nnPostage on a 25kg awning including insurance was £50.50, so not a small sum.nnWinfields Outdoors also stated in their email: “It isn't something we are prepared to discuss further with the manufacturers.” This is ridiculous, because the issues I raised are exactly the sort of issues you’d raise with the manufacturer.nnTo clarify, I provided them with significant information to show the awning I received was “not as described” and included photo evidence.nnFor example:n1. They were selling the 2024 model of the awning, but the production date on my awning was June 2022n2. My awning had triangular supports on the corners of the awning that were not present in the photos on their websiten3. The door to the awning bedroom was light grey, and not dark grey as in the photos on their website a relevant difference when thinking about sleeping when camping.nnThere are so many online sellers of camping gear. Please shop with someone else.
I wanted a pair of walking boots but was very disappointed as there was only a few pairs of size 10's in the whole place, none of which I fancied. I mentioned to a member of staff that there was no size 10 he simply laughed...very weird.
