Wimbledon Park is a delightful oasis in the heart of London, offering serene green spaces, a picturesque lake, and charming pathways perfect for leisurely strolls. The well-maintained tennis courts and golf course add to its charm, making it an ideal spot for both relaxation and recreation. A visit to Wimbledon Park is a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The lawn is super big, I was like “wow” when I stepped into the park from the north. The pond inside is beautiful also. Nonetheless, only half of the park is open to public, it’s not possible to walk for a round inside the park. To go from the east to the west side of the park in order to go to the Wimbledon Stadium, we must exit the park then walked for a super long way…. It’s quite disappointing, seldom come across a park is designed in such way… not really worth to come a long way to visit this park… unless for tennis lover. There are many tennis courts, full of ppl playing tennis.
On a perfectly windy, sunny, 25 degree afternoon, I sit on one of the benches at the edge of the lake. I drink a chilled can of Diet Coke. Children clamber past me, rushing to claim their kayaks. Families catch gentle gusts of wind on their small sail boats. Ducks, geese, pigeons and seagulls gather at the waters edge. One child tell another that birds don’t bite, “they peck.” One woman’s parasol flies off, but the dancing weeping willows catch it for her. In the distance, I can hear the grunt of a tennis player. Why are none of these people at work? It’s Tuesday at 2pm. Why am I not at work? I feel like I’m in rehab. It feels like wealthy people don’t have problems.
Wimbledon Queue and Grounds Pass Information at Wimbledon Park 2024nnThe waiting area for non-ticket holders at Wimbledon is well-organized, there is also a tent area for those who will sleep over to be early in the line for last minute tickets on the following day. However, clear signage regarding the ticket purchasing process is lacking.nnStewards on-site can provide information about ground passes, which grant access to all courts except Center and No. 1. These passes cost £20, but if you arrive after 5 PM, they may be discounted to £10. Keep in mind that queues might be shorter or non-existent later in the day.nnIf you arrive after 7 PM, securing a ground pass becomes less likely. Nevertheless, there are still opportunities to enjoy the Wimbledon atmosphere, including iconic photo spots and even the chance to vote for the potential men's final winner.nnPlease note: This information is based on previous years and may change.
