A lovely little lakeside caravan/ camping site. We stayed at Willowholt for 2 nights with family, and we enjoyed our stay. The tiolets and shower blocks are brand new and are definitely a bonus to the upcoming site. I believe the site is upgrading the site in areas as the entrance has a lot of diggers, etc, and the new bulit tiolet block is the only thing that is relatively new. The washing up area could do with a little upgrading. The boathouse is a nice touch to the site. Unfortunately, the night we were planning to use it, the staff put a sign out to say bar only so we didn't get to try the food. Maybe next time. If your camping with young kids be asked to be put near the park as it was a bonus for us. The park is massive, and our children made friends with others and used the park the whole time we were there. Great addition to the site. The pitch area was fine, big enough, and pitched next to the family, which we requested. Beautiful views over the lake. Take earplugs, the geese that live on the site fly over and make a racket at 4am. I've given 4 stars for service as when we arrived the lady who served me was a little moody and said if we didn't leave by 11 am the next day they won't be returning the £10 they take for the gate fob to get in and out the camp site. We, of course, are always aware of a checkout time, and 11am is a good time for checkout, but the way it came across wasn't very friendly. Even if it was 11.05am, we wouldn't be getting our money back. I feel sorry for anyone who gets there just a few minutes late as of course that can happen with a car full of kids. Things are unpredictable. Overall, a good stay and make sure you take a trip into Woodhall spa to the bakery delicatessen absolutely 5 star cakes, baps, chocolates our highlight of the trip. Nearby activities: Wolds wildlife park Tattershall farm park Woodhall spa Food & drinks: The site offers the boathouse restaurant with alcoholic drinks and food.
Lovely caravan/camping park. We had the clamping pod which was clean when we arrived and had everything you could need. Everything was well kept and the lake was good for canoeing/paddle boarding. Kids loved the play park and was plenty for them to do. Would highly recommend
Bit of a long one so stay with me : Phoned up to book a lakeside pitch as was wanting to kayak there, spoke to a lovely gentleman on the phone who confirmed that was ok, I explained by partner was arriving after me and staying with us, he advised it would be an extra £5 for the car, no problem if that's the rule and an extra £1 for my daughter and £10 for a gate fob, all booked and paid a deposit. On arrival, there was a lady in reception whom checked us in, advised the same as the man about paying for the car and gate fob, I said I was happy to pay for another fob so my partner could get in she said no that wasn't necessary. She also clearly didn't like the fact that my daughter was talking as she promptly stopped talking and glared at my daughter whom was very excited about camping and kayaking. She confirmed the pitch number and handed me the rules and said make sure you read them, fine no problem. When my partner arrived, the receptionist asked her to pay another £5 for the car, to which she rightly refused as I had paid for it and it was the same lady to which she got very stroppy again. On check out, we were 20 minutes late leaving our pitch, no one was waiting to go on to it and we ran over the 11am deadline as the pitch we were on was very muddy and we had to clean everything thoroughly before putting it away, yes I did apologise for this. On departure I asked the receptionist to check the amount that had been taken for our stay, as I got it to a different amount. She advised that it was £32 for the night £1 for my daughter and £5 for the extra car and the £10 gate deposit. I had confirmed with the gentleman that the nightly fee was £30 taken from their own website but she insisted the website wasn't up to date and advised that I shouldn't take any notice of the pricing? She then proceeded to say again that I was late for which I again said sorry for 20 minutes and proceed to say to me "didn't you read the rules" and then told me she was going to keep my £10 gate deposit? Yes it was only £2 overcharged but she clearly didn't like it being pointed out and asked whom I had spoken to on booking and I just said it was a man and I didn't get his name. She then asked if I wanted her to ask the man to come and check the pricing with me so I said yes please-yes it was only £2 but her attitude was now out of control, so she replied that he must be busy as she couldn't see him??? I said to her if she wanted to keep the £10 gate deposit for me being late then that was her choice, but it was for the fob not lateness, I made it clear I wasn't happy so she refunded me the deposit and the £2 she had overcharged and I left. Such a shame that just one person can spoil a last minute break, yes rules are rules but I've never head of anyone being told that they would charge £10 for 20 minutes of leaving late , maybe an hour or more then yes. Would we go again? no, its such a shame as its really local for us and secure for kayaking with a child but the receptionist has really put us off.
Absolutely fantastic place. We have been here a few times now and it never disappoints. Even when the weather is terrible. All the facilities are tip top. The owner and staff are really friendly and helpful. Just a lovely place to get away with the family for a few days. Highly recommended.
Great site. Just returned from our second Easter weekend in a row. Last year was fantastic, due to the weather being absolutely brilliant. This year the weather wasn't great, which showed an issue with the site. The pitches near the playground in front of the lake have woeful drainage. There had been some rain prior to our arrival and one of our group couldn't pitch up on the allotted space, they ended up having to pitch awkwardly in the middle, not ideal. I don't think it'd be all that difficult to add some decent drainage to the pitches on question, or make them hard standing as it's terrible. So much so that the ground was ruined after we left as it was so waterlogged. If this wasn't an issue this would be a 5* review as it's a good site. Everything else was spot on - just the drainage issues.
Amazing site this is our 2nd year on seasonal pitch, clean and moden shower blocks on site shop for all your caravan parts. Lots of things to do locally. Bigger and improved park, great that you can go in the lake in the warmer weather. Only down fall is its a shame the cafe is only open at the weekends from 4pm
Another great break. Love this place. Great for fun on the lake. Toilet and shower block, immaculate aa usual. Loads of tornadoes again. See you soon
Lovely campsite, children's has been Neely built and is amazing. Storage good too. Ducks are really messy need to watch where you step. Young lady at reception was incredibly helpful.
