Hardly anything left in the shop. It's a shame a lack of proper and competent management has led to the end of Wilkinson's and the loss of so many jobs. A very sad day this week when the stores close for good. I feel sorry for the staff who are losing their jobs. Yet another high street store bites the dust. .
I can always find what I want here at a good price. The self-checkouts are bizarre and there's often a queue to pay, but otherwise a good general store for household goods, DIY, furnishings and stationary. Cafe is pretty good too, although we've had a long wait on a couple of occasions. Not too bad, but enough to prevent it from being a quick stop off.
For some reason it feels like you're travelling back in time when you enter this store, the seventies comes to mind! All in all it has a large range of modern products available spread over quite a sizeable showroom. Prices, on the whole, seem very affordable when compared to larger supermarkets. It appeared that the main clientele were more elderly and this was especially the case in the cafeteria, at least when I visited. Staff were friendly and polite when approached with that all important smile. Thumbs up. Self service tills were somewhat outdated but worked efficiently enough; there were staffed tills available too. Worth a visit but could do with a little va-va-voom to breathe a little life into it both in atmosphere and shop aesthetics.
Love this shop, and the cafe is amazing, the staff are very friendly and attentive, also it's so clean. We'd had sn all day breakfast that was gorgeous with plenty on the plate and a latte. Real value for money
Think this place should just be closed up. Staff lost their jobs and all interest in working. Google maps directs you here for home bargains let's hope they move here fast as their staff are so friendly and want to serve 5he public.
The York Wilko is a great place to shop. There always seems to be something different in there compared to other shops. Plus its usually very keenly priced.
If you need something, they probably have it! A great store. The pick and mix screws, bolts and washers is everymans dream. Garden bits are now out. Prices are very good. Easy to park with plenty of other shops around. Cafe is ok if you need a cuppa whilst shopping. Good range of pet and wild bird foods.
Went into the cafe with my daughter as a put stop and have a rest and refuel and I have to say was absolutely awful. Firstly I ordered a panini ham cheese for me with extra chips to share tea daughter had chicken bacon one with coke .had a bad mix up in kitchen chef decided it was his finish time up and left right in front of us when we had already been wating 20 mins one of our paninis went another table the lady noticed after few mins and having bitten it . I think she must of been told she can have it. Not sure what else as they were other end of cafe. We're still sat waiting of and by this time noone came over to tell us this . After another 20 mins someone came over told us there was a mix up kindly offered me another tea as drank my first she said couldn't off my daughter another coke so she had a tea too .. asked us what we ordered again told her then a bit after someone else came out with wrong order daughters was right mine wasn't so quickly went back to make me a cheese and ham panini.. picture s below . All I can say is where is the filling !!! So as you have probably guessed by now we will not be returning there anytime soon .
This is a big shop and it's got everything you need in hardware, the cafe is good and it has a kids play area, the staff are always helpful.
Went for a breakfast sandwich. The staff were very nice. Very pleasant young man in the till but the bread was dry the bacon was dreadful could hardly bite through it. You can do better!!!
