I've photographed a few awesome weddings at Wilderness Wood, and it's just the most perfect wedding venue - and one of the few places you can legally get married in the woods! Top tip - have a live band and fire pit in the evening followed by a silent disco under the festoon lights! Also, get on the big swing for fun photos!
Great little place hidden away. £4 entry and lots of little places to explore. Trail takes around 45mins-1hr. Cafe had lovley brownies and hot chocolate. Staff very friendly and place has alot of history. Worth a visit
I went along with my husband to a guided fungi walk with Anne Yarrow in Wilderness Woods. What a privilege to have her as a guide! We were quite a large group but she dealt with all questions expertly. Great for children and adults of all ages. Thank you Mandy and David
Had the loveliest day out here exploring the woods and spotting mushrooms. Well managed but not overly manicured natural spaces like this are rare and should be cherished. Also an excellent cup of tea from the hatch!
This place is magical! Amazing people, amazing place and can you believe it, when we turned up to get our Christmas tree it started to snow! This is a great place for kids and families, and we’ll definitely be back! Ps. Massive thanks to the man who helped me change my car key battery when it ran out… I can’t thank you enough!
Lovely walk around the woods. We went specifically to look for fungi and we were not disappointed. Paid a small entrance fee and the lady who took our money was really friendly and helpful, even lending us a field guide to fungi.
Lovely woods to walk round, great for kids and families. There are pushchair friendly trails, lovely cafe with home made cakes and play areas, including a mud kitchen. Only thing on negative side is the admission is no longer free or donation, still cheap day out.
If you love nature, this forest woodland with its explorer's trail, natural peacefulness and community philosophy will certainly ground and energise you. We were given an amazing warm welcome by Alice, who not only made a superb coffee, but gave us the low-down of what to look out for. We spent a magical afternoon exploring. It was well worth the nominal entrance fee. Thank you.
Beautiful and magical place that you could spend hours with your family. Smell of woodlands and being close to nature will leave you happy and relaxed . Couldn't love this place more
Lovely rustic wooded area with a cafe and assortment of wood products. Cafe sources the meat from the local butchers. Zip wire, swing and mud kitchen for the kids and adults to play on. You walk throughout the for a 'pay what you feel' donation. It's great watching this place grow in every sense.
