Large open Nature reserve, with many routes to explore. You can walk by the flashes / canal or via a woodland path to a picnic area. Dog friendly ‍ and lots of water activities available sailing etc. Wildlife aplenty, a very relaxing place in the heart of Wigan. It is a great location and easy to get, too.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a lovely place. Did a 14 mile walk yesterday. Well kept paths. Parks very busy. Probably because it was a Sunday.? Only let down on the walk was the vast amount of litter. Lots on Wigan road and the most of it in bin bags in two brooks which was a disgrace especially when one Brook was opposite the recycling centre.!!!! But we will be doing the walk again. Plenty of new information boards which were very informative.
Beautiful. Such an amazing place with lakes, canals, woodlands and very peaceful. Ideal for families, cyclists, dog walkers, wheelchair and pram friendly footpaths.
Fantastic local nature reserve and great beauty spot for walking and many other outdoor activities.
Visited in Feb 23, starting from Cemetary Road, Ince in Makerfield. We walked around several of the flashes, covering about 4.5 miles. Despite the positive reviews, I came away feeling that it was an absolute embarrassment for Wigan and Wigan Council. Fly tipping, litter, poor maintenance - this place had all the negatives that ruined what could be a pretty walk. Also worth noting that during our entire walk there wasn't a single dustbin - so lots of dog poo bags hanging in trees
Excellent place for walks for families, dog owners, and those wanting to explore the vareity of nature here. Lots of different wildlife habitats to explore. Paths vary from the conrete alongside the canal to the very muddy and scrubby through the woodland.Wait timeNo wait
Large, peaceful nature reserve. Plenty of wildlife. Loads of paths. Great place to chill & walk. Playground: No playground. Restrooms: No toilets. Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly.
Large area of wetlands with quite a few paths and patches of woodland. Good for bird life and not too busy.
A lovely walk and only minutes from the centre of town.
Great wildlife but could do with better pathways & maybe facilities.
