Bunch of lying barstools!! States all over their website that they are open over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and when you make a special trip to go to your local store... They're shut!! Unbelievable!!!

I go here on a regular basis for DIY materials. On the last 3 occasions I have walked out when I have found a long queue waiting to pay with only one person operating the till working at a snails pace. When there is a queue staff seem to busy themselves in corners of the shop and avoid all eye contact from the queue. At the same time there is no supermarket type tannoy to the checkouts. Whoever is managing this place is not doing his/her job. It is quicker to head off to Homebase where you will probably get served more quickly

Only go to Wickes Chatham out of necessity. Rarely have required items in stock. Unhelpful uninterested staff (if you can find them) who prefer to chat and joke in little groups rather than do any work. Management have now supplied staff with little mic/earpieces so they can share amusing tittle-tattle instead of paying attention to their work and/or customers. They have no product awareness and if you have any sort of enquiry regarding a delivery etc. they are rude to your face. Have often waited in line at their "Argos" counter whilst a single member of staff blatantly ignores the ever growing queue of frustrated customers. Instead of prioritising and serving someone, they gormlessly stare at the checkout monitor and pretend they're doing something important. Their workforce appears to consist of either brain-dead youngsters or individuals nearing retirement; in both instances Wickes seems to employ from groups who 'couldn't care less'. On many occasions I've seen potential customers get fed up of waiting and walk out. This loss of custom must amount to a considerable sum if occurring regularly throughout each day. If the management were aware of this fact alone, i'm sure they'd have the sense to do something about it. Absolutely shocking that this place survives; I can only imagine Chatham branch is financially subsidised by other branches to compensate for diminishing trade. Staff have now taken to blocking off aisles with strategically placed pallets of goods, thus leaving customers unable to navigate and maneuver their trolleys free of obstructions. Good luck if you require any sand, cement or plasterboard. This entire area of racking is usually sectioned off with barriers whilst an overweight aging employee instructs his pimply young protegee to speed about in their little forklift truck. Protestations of "I just need a few sheets of plasterboard !" are usually met with verbal displays of authority such as "Retreat from the barricaded zone immediately !!" This protracted display of forklift stunts can run into a good half hour. Which is counterproductive if you happen to run a business and have tradesmen awaiting your return with the required materials.

Brought several items over the weekend but when I got home i noticed they were damaged and had leaked, even though transporting them form the store to my home so I contacted head office via email (due to work commitments etc..) who were no help and told me to contact the store. Well, you have seen the store comments on here need I say anymore apart from agree and use B&Q, Homebase or another company!

Good shop but have to guess the prices as all the price tags are either wrong or missing completely
