We went in to buy some printer cartridges. Upstairs was a collection of dockets indicative of what one could buy. We took our desired dockets to the checkout only to be told that the single cartridges we wanted to buy could only be bought in twin-packs at a price massively above what one would have to pay HP direct. If the shop has no intention of selling single cartridges, and the reaction of the member of staff indicated that this was the case, why are so many dockets arrayed on shelves in ways that clearly mislead customers?  As a follow-up to my earlier post, we went home and ordered the cartridges from HP. They arrived the following day, direct to our home, for two-thirds of the price we would have had to pay at Smith's. While we would always try to support local shops, it is time some stores realise the extent to which their poor stock management and over-priced goods will drive away otherwise loyal customers.

I am giving it 2 stars and if it wasn't for the two ladies working in there this morning. It wouldn't have just been a 1 but quite possibly a complaint to wh Smith headoffice. I went in this morning to buy some L plates. The last pair on the shelf had  no packaging or bar code. I took them to the counter and the ladies there were very polite. But realised they could not scan and did not know the price. For nearly 20 mins they tried different  numbers for a manager and what I assume were other members of line management staff to ask for help and advice on what to do. Not one of these people, who again I assume had left their numbers for just such an occasion, answered their phone. I was feeling disgusted by now not only for my time but the frustration thses young ladies must have been feeling to know that their avenues for support were unavailable. I only stayed purely because of these two tenacious employees determined to provide excellent customer service. They put their heads together and had another think. They rang a different branch, sourced someone to find the item on the floor of a different shop and provide the. With the bar code. Absolutly above and beyond. They were apologetic friendly and professional throughout and the only reason I would use this store again. 5 stars to them and I think they should be acknowledged by wh Smith. As I feel should the management for other reasons.

Nice clean shop, lots of poducts. Good selection. Nice, friendly staff. Really good shop
