The Castle and Gardens is well looked after a very unique and great place for weddings, family celebrations, corporate and community events. The place is for all ages to come and enjoy. It includes a series of ornamental gardens, a toddlers play area, a picnic area, tea rooms with great celection of hot and cold food and drinks, musium gallery area and bowling club. It is located short walking distance from the pebble's beach, which is always a plus too. The entrance is free of charge.
Wonderful venue... amazing friendly staff. Also, quaint little grounds to walk around & take photos. Small children play area too. Some free parking available for approximately 15 carsVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
What a little gem We visited the castle on a chilly day in January and were pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely snack in the café followed by a tour around the castle by one of the volunteers. Although its not always open for tours due to functions taking place we were lucky enough that it wasn't busy on the day we went. We also had a walk around the gardens, which probably look much better in spring or summer. As for costs the tour was free but they kindly ask for a donation. Highly recommend..
Lovely views, but not as lovely as the the person I spent the day with!! Was a nice day walking around the Psychic fair & Witches market. We even saved a bee, who had strayed from the rooftop hive! Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Lovely place to sit and relax. The gardens are always well tended and beautiful in the summer. Even a cold winter's day is pleasant here as it catches the sun and has many benches to sit on and enjoy it. On warm days the bowling club are out on the green. Dogs are welcome on leads and there is a lovely tea room serving coffees, cakes etc. Seating inside and out on the terrace. Note: Castle itself is not a traditional fortress! It is rather a grand residence dating back to the late 18th century. Very picturesque and often hosts antique fairs, weddings etc. Definitely worth a visit.
A cute little Castle, didn't have time to try anything in the café. There is no entry ticket for the castle. Would definitely recommend to visit there if you have kids because there's a nice children's play area. The beach is just minutes away.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
A splendid little garden with with a slight incline which creates a nice view over the boule pitch below and there is a a little cafe in the grounds serving nice coffee and treats. A lovely place to come and have a wonder, relax and breath.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Lovely castle and gardens. Not massive, an hour is plenty to view everything. It has a cafe too. Very close to the beach. Free to enter the castle grounds. I haven't been inside the castle as it was closed after after 5 or so.
Lucky to find a table inside in a weekend with a small festival happening. Nice tea and snack but cutlery and mugs didn't look very clean. Beautiful location though and friendy staff.Visited onWeekend
The castle is gorgeous, gardens are stunning. the Play area was a massive bonus for the children too. Free entry was a lovely surprise and although we didn't get a chance to sample anything from the cafe due to running out of time, it was very popular with most tables full of people which is great sign of popularity and we would definitely come back to grab some tea and cake.
