Whitlingham is a great spot to come to for a leisurely walk. You get a great view of the broad throughout, and the River Yare for some of it too. Can be a trifle muddy at times, definitely recommend boots or wellies unless you want to be cleaning mud of your trainers! Lots of bird life and water fowl. Mostly even surface all the way around the path so it’s suitable for most. There’s a nice cafe on site with decent coffee, sandwiches and pastries. The cafe also allows dogs. The car parks are pay and display- they do have card readers didn’t work last time I tried however or you can pay with coins. You can also pay online with a credit/debit card. There is some free on road parking down Whitlingham lane- just make sure your parked on the single yellow sections and be mindful of the signs.
Beautiful and serene area. Lovely for walks, canoe or kayaking or just sit in the sun and chill watching swans glide by. There is a barn cafe nearby for snacks and drinks.
What a beautiful place to visit. Great walks, beautiful scenery and a fantastic cafe to finish off the walk. A shame our girl can't read the signs though!!!!
Great place for a dog walk, lovely lake, lots of different paths to take. Cafe in the same grounds was great and dog friendly Dog-friendliness: Great for a dog walk
Great countryside setting only 5mins from centre of Norwich. Nice little cafe and great walks around the broad and next to the river.
Beautiful place, lovely walks, and right now the café is covered in scaffolding, so I avoided it. It's a great place for birdwatching and photography.
Great open country park with an easy walk around the lake. Great for children cycling and you can hire bikes here too. Recommend.
The place is full of toxic hogweed around the footpaths. Touching it can cause severe burns. I would not recommend visiting this place with children. The warning signs with the photos of blisters caused by hogweed should be placed at the very entrance. The thickets of nettles and the footpaths strewn with debris are also unpleasant. Swimming is forbidden. A very strange park.
Completed orienteering course. A great way to see the different areas of the park. Lovely to see tufted ducks on the lake and the snowdrops in the verges Dog-friendliness: Great dog walking area
I took my wife in her wheelchair to Whitlingham Broad 2 months ago, and we certainly enjoyed the walk as far as we were able to go. I read in one place that the path is suitable for wheelchairs, and I have just seen online publicity clearly showing a picture of a wheelchair next to information indicating the 2.3 mile walk round the Broad. We had to turn back after walking less than a mile, as the path became much too rough for the wheelchair, which is a reasonably robust one. I should also mention that we visited other sites in Norfolk where it was stated that the paths are suitable for wheelchairs, but they clearly are not, though thankfully we did find some places where the information is reliable.
