Went here after a visit at colchester zoo and we loved it. This was the first carvery me and my family had since a few years and it was amazing! The staff were very approachable and lively! The food was amazing and LOVELY MEAT! The meat portion was great! We will definitely be returning soon! Brilliant!
From the moment I arrived at Toby carvery, I was greeted with such politeness and smiles around. Didn't have to wait to long for our table to be ready.nService and food was outstanding.nAll staff was very bubbly and content.
Went there for mail with my girlfriend. She'd been before and it was the first time for me. We got there early but is absolutely packed. Not that we knew they were doing a deal. 6 lb of meal for carvary so there was no room in the car park but that was really busy. We waited till 7:15 for our table. We queued up for 10-15 minutes to wait for our food. We got to the counter. There was only two lots of meat, turkey or beef. I had turkey and beef but the beef was chewy. I didn't have a Yorkshire pudding because I have wheat intolerance but I had lots of veg and the veg was delicious. I had free roast potatoes and all the veg absolutely delicious with gravy. We sat down and it was a nice atmosphere. The waitress was really lovely overall. Go and have a look. The food was great
Me and a few friends decided to do something a bit different on our visit to Toby Carvery – we all turned up wearing full banana suits to surprise our friend Samuel who works there. Safe to say it made everyone’s day! Samuel was absolutely cracking up when he saw us walk in, and the rest of the staff handled it brilliantly. They were really friendly, played along with the joke, and made us feel completely welcome even though we looked like a bunch of walking fruit.nnWhat made it even better was that other visitors in the restaurant found it hilarious too. A few people were laughing, smiling, and even asking for photos – the whole place had a really fun atmosphere because of it.nnOf course the food was great as always – proper hearty carvery, loads of choice, and everything tasted spot on. The staff were quick, helpful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which makes a big difference.nnOne small suggestion though… after a group of bananas came in for dinner, I think it’s only right that Toby Carvery adds a banana split to the dessert menu! It would’ve been the perfect ending to our visit.nnBrilliant food, great staff, and a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back maybe in different costumes next time.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. We were immediately greeted and welcomed by our server Cameron and offered a choice of dining areas. All was clearly explained and we weren’t made to feel at all rushed. The atmosphere felt cosy and comforting as well as nice and clean. The carver, Tom was incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating of my fussy requests! He was so uplifting that it left us with smiles on our face and we enjoyed our delicious piping-hot food all the more because of it.! We highly recommend dining here they also have an excellent buffet breakfast too! Well worth a visit. Plenty of choice and everything cooked nicely and tastes great.
