Hotel was in the perfect position for meeting up with friends locally, quirky old bar and hotel with many characters drinking and eating in the bar. Hotel rooms full of character with slopping floors breakfast was OK full English breakfast put on a sandwich plate .

Popped to coggsall for a day out and stumbled across the pub for a quick bite. Outstanding food and relatively cheap. The staff were attentive also

Just returned from another enjoyable visit to Coggeshall and the White Hart in the centre of the village. This historic Inn is quite atmospheric with its oak beams and it has been recentky refurbished. The manager Joanna was there to welcome us and it was good to see her smiling face.She's very hands on. and we have seen several improvements since she took over a year or so ago. We had a lovely large, quiet, comfortable room at the front. The bathroom was immaculate. There's a good restaurant and bar. It was a pleasure to see Shannon again , cheerfully taking our breakfast order for bacon and eggs. (Everything else is laid out on the buffet tables.) We were also able to say an Hello to anothe familiar face, Helen who is on the later shift in the bar. She's really a part of the fixtures and fittings with her nice dry sense of humour intact. There's parking and an outdoors area where you may enjoy a drink in the warmer weather. All in all, we recommend the White Hart as a very good base to stay when visiting Coggeshall and the surrounding areas. We''ll be back.

Sadly very poor despite a full refund for the inedible food the quality was the worst I have seen since first visiting it in 2005 we have lived in the village some 13 years and used the white Hart regularly we even had our daughters wedding reception there organized by Craig( who did a lovely job by the way it must be said) and we always had great service from pippo and luchiano the two italian waiters / barmen at the tables and the food was always adequate at worst and great at best but last weekend's experience was very poor indeed wrong orders stale bread in the sandwiches wattery coleslaw you could pour from the pot and slow service ! All in all the worst visit we have ever had to this establishment, so we probably won't be returning in a hurry which is such a shame as we have always enjoyed walking up the road and eating here on numerous occasions for the odd meal out. I will award 1 star for giving the refund understandably without hesitation but that's about it sadly
