Proper . Old fashioned country pub with good beer, nooks and crannies to sit in but plenty of space, friendly staff, a fire in the fireplace, lots of seating outside for summer - it's January at the mo & pretty bleak. We weren't eating but the food looked great. We'll definitely be back. Fantastic.
Visited Sunday in the hope of getting a table for 3 including our greyhound Unfortunately they were fully booked and we were told that its best to book a few days ahead for Sunday Lunch. But they managed to find us a table at the bar and set it up for lunch. I found The White Bear to be a superb country pub. The staff including the owner Lee and his wife Sian couldn't be more welcoming and attentive. While the other customers where very friendly and open to conversation. It did feel like you had set foot in to your local pub. In fact I would love this pub as my local. The food itself were hearty meals, very enjoyable over a good beer and glass of wine the dog is doing dry January and was plenty of choice including a nut roast. Over all if you are looking for a quintessential English country pub. With good food, friendly staff and patrons. Then The White Bear is by far the best choice.
Great place for an afternoon pint, good beer and a nice ambiance. Lady at the bar was lovely, didn't try the food because there was no walk in ordering, needed a reservation overall good experience!
This is such a love old country pub, the food looked absolutely amazing. There is a big car park so don't worry about it being out in the lanes. The staff were really friendly, it was my first time there but it will definitely not be my last.
My cousin and I were looking for a dog friendly pub close to home and the menu at the white bear caught our eye. We arrived and the staff were super friendly. Once they sat us down in a beautiful secluded part of the pub, I already felt special. .. but once we realised they'd sat us down beside an open fireplace, all I heard was "Take a seat and I'll get Lee to get the fire going." It quickly became a super romantic setting all of a sudden, and i just wished i shared that moment with my other half!! But It's fine... i got the next best thing Lee was such a great guy the fire starter. Really informed us about the food and also him being an avid dog lover himself, he really took the time out to speak to us and talk about his love for dogs which is what we love!! We hope to meet you one day Nala and Nanook!! The waiter who took our drinks was super friendly and even told us the makeup brand of her highlight thanks babe. And the guy who took our food order. Thanks for letting me change my chips to mash bro can't forget about the lovely ladies behind the bar who gavee our dog Frankie all the treats was the first time this evening I step foot into the white bear but certainly not the last! Thank you so much guys!! Mel & Dani xxx
Beautiful pub on a winter's evening, cosy, nice fire and good music!
Went in with a group for some drinks. Staff and service was very good. Ample of seats indoor and outdoor. Booking a table is highly recommended. Large car park and bike parking racks. Prices of drinks were more closer to London bars.
Just came for lunch with my wife and friend had a very nice lunch, ham egg and chips are actually amazing !!! Compliments to the chef. Beautiful garden decent prices for the quality of food and really beautiful building. Staff were really nice too. Thanks guys :
Large portions, delicious food but was missing a comfortable and warm decor. No drinks menu either. So easy to produce and saves having to go to the bar to look what's available. Shame.
We haven’t been to the White Bear in a few years as, in my opinion, it really went down hill. However, we recently visited and I am so pleased we did!! The food was wonderful! The new management were amazing and we have even booked to go back next weekend!! So pleased to have the White Bear back on our radar as we’ve missed it!
