A beautiful period building which is a perfect setting for your wedding day large or small. Set in the centre of town making the location an easy reach for all. #enjoy
The lady on reception was friendly and welcoming. Needed to see someone in pensions had tried to contact by phone but there was a half an hour waiting time each time I rang so decided to call into Town Hall. The lady i saw from pensions was very friendly and helpful. She sorted my query immediately. Unfortunately I didn't quite hear her name but i appreciate everything she did for me .my experience was very positive thanks once again for excellent service
Beautiful building will beautiful rooms. Staff were amazing. Everything was well presented, picture perfect. Costs were not excessive, highly recommended.
We amazed our Wedding guests and got married here on Saturday. The venue is nothing short of perfection both inside and out. The service from the staff too, especially Keeley who we cannot thank enough for being simply amazing. Thank you Mr and Mrs Shirbon x
Interesting little town great views across the Tyne from the historic piers. Never leave without a trip to Barbour factory shop and Colemanschips.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit The mayor and mayoress were very kind showing us around giving us some very interesting historical information. Beautiful interesting building Born and bred in South Shields but had never seen inside our beautiful town hall
Beware this 'jobsworth' council. Was visiting folk in town. Arrived on a Sunday...late afternoon by sat nav. More or less 'deserted'. Damn sat nav apparently took me down a short bus lane. No exit possible once in lane so safely continued without another vehicle or pedestrian in sight. Little choice without stopping and reversing through lights or entering the oncoming lane. Thought no more on it...that night...curry, good company etc. Spent about £175 supporting business in town. Next day, continued spending in town as you do before getting away. Couple of weeks after getting home the inevitable official looking letter arrived and you've guessed it, 60 quid fine, complete with veiled threats and promises of reductions if paid up immediately without any fuss. Enclosed was a stack of photos revealing 'the crime of the century'. The whole 'pack' and process to produce probably cost more than the fine! There was some info regarding what turned out be a pointless option of appeal. Of course... totally admitted my 'crime' but suggested that as a visitor investing in business's in the town and lack of options to exit lane once on it...this might mitigate? God forbid they 'let anyone off' lest 'convoys' descend on South Shields to wheelspin up and down deserted bus lanes! Long and short of it is...1. accept I'm a numpty to rely on a sat nav....but pretty useful when seeking directions... which after all is what they are for. 2. Council should take each case on its circs and not apply indiscriminate sanctions. Whatever they say to the contrary..this is not so...and such fines are just a draconian cash cow. Appeal pointless so why bother wasting taxpayers money on whole process. 3. Of course the councils bureaucracy is made manifest by individuals who work there so they might want to think outside 'rules is rules' and get a life. 4. If you want visitors in your town spending their hard earned dosh....be 'reasonable'. 5. Many places don't restrict bus lanes on Sundays' to assist traffic. Will think twice now before entering your jurisdiction again. Finally...to be fair to this council....they are probably much the same as many others, visa vi a pointless bloated, bureaucratic, faceless money pit that should have been restructured and downsized many decades ago.
Q outside did not put one line that rent payments computers were OFF LINE so no one payed rent
South Shields remains in my heart ,more than fifty years passed since I came to stay work and study.South Shieds Town Hall most impressive ,the port ,the boat to get in North Shields and then the pubs..South Shields people are kind obliging and true..The house in Osborne road was confusing me with all alike ..South Shields is so attractive with its wonderfully seaside and all the walkers wandering this beautiful scenery..
Everything is great until it goes wrong. I've lived in South Shields all my life and wouldn't choose anywhere else, but jesus christ we have the worst council ever! They won't do anything!
