Beautiful water garden. The picnic area is also very sweet. I visited alone as I would not trust my young son near the canals. It was truly lovely. A great place to stop in on your way elsewhere We live in Gloucester so I stopped in to walk around on my way to the Forest of Dean. NB: I got in for ‘free’ with my NT membership. Had I paid the prices documented on the website, I would of been very disappointed. It does not have the same level of facilities as other paying National Trust properties.
Lovely gardens in out standing settings. Bring a picnic and sit on the benches in the picnic area by the stream. Fantastic and well kept bedding and potted flowers and shrubs. Beautiful designs in the gardens well kept ever green shrubs/ conifers. Would highly recommend a visit here if you are in the area.
A small site with manicured shrubs and trees and well cared for gardens. The water canals are stocked with mature fishes and food can be bought from the shop outside. The shop only takes cash currently. A walk around the garden doesn't take too long and there are numerous benches to sit and enjoy the site. There is also a picnic area and the site is flat easy walking for those people with mobility issues.
Wonderfully kept, a pleasant place to walk round, stare at the fish and if you bring one grab a picnic. Go inside the old church grounds to see the wild flowers and admire the fantastic views. Car park gets full rather quickly.
Oustanding Dutch style water gardens, formal gardens and walled garden all in a picturesque setting. The story and history of the gardens is fascinating, dating back to1696 and virtually untouched for over 300 years, being rescued from the brink in the 1967 and carefully restored in every detail to original plant species and layouts. There is a lovely walled garden to discover with a beautiful diversity of plants, summerhouse, pavilion with grounds viewing gallery, a picnic area, small gift shop, toilet facilities and car parking. Highly recommended to visit this unique historical location.
This is an amazing garden, for it's small size there's loads to see with lovely views. It's best visited at a quiet time of day to be able to appreciate the reflections of the water. There is a viewing and information raised area which is really interesting. There's also a toilet.
An absolutely stunning place. We took a slight detour home after our few days visiting the Somerset area. We are so pleased we did as it certainly didn't disappoint. Car park is extremely small, however there is some off road parking available. Well worth a visit. Great place for picnics too.
Stunning place to visit & the gardens where lovely. Staff were very helpful as well. The church next door is stunning with a separated tower. Amazing place for photography.
Much more interesting than I thought it would be. Lots of fruit trees espaliered against the walls. Canals full of coy carp and an extensive vegetable garden. Combine this with the largest evergreen Oak tree in England and you have a venue well worth travelling a distance to enjoy. Apple day 10-11 Oct should not be missed.
Fantastic place for a walk. Feed the fish, easy to walk round in a short time but a peaceful place to take a short time visiting. Also maybe buy a second hand book at a great price. Wonderfully tended.
