Making new friends along the way, with Badger, Otter and a whole host of woodland creatures, follow their adventure on every kind of transport imaginable; complete with a young company of carol singing field-mice, families will be transported - via car, train or horse-drawn caravan - to the very heart of our green and pleasant land.

Leeds-born Alan Bennett adapts Kenneth Grahame's much loved family riverbank classic for the stage. Designed by Colin Richmond. Additional lyrics and music by Jeremy Sams. Additional incidental music by Simon Slater.

Great theatre, modern and bright, fantastic location opposite the main bus station in Leeds city centre, so very easy to find. Cafe, restaurant, bar all on the site, first class. Not sure about facilities for the less able as there seems a lot of steps to get into the building, and once inside lot of steps.
Easy to find. Walking distance from the city centre. Friendly staff. It is not a massive theatre so the visibility is really good. Even if you have the cheapest tickets, you will be fine. I get the last remaining tickets in the courtyard P5, P6 and I didn't have any problem. There is a cafe so you can buy drinks and snacks. I went to see Paranormal Activity. Amazing effects! If you have any chance to get tickets, buy them!
Fantastic modern theatre. Nice seating with plenty of room. We enjoyed the Dolly Parton show and look forward to visiting many times again in the future.
A great cultural centre in the heart of Leeds. I last went to see Stewart Lee's new show, 'Basic Lee'. The Good -Seating. There isn't a bad seat in the house in this modern, intimate venue -Website. Easy booking and information. -Staff. Friendly and helpful. It really enhances the experience -Location. Convenient parking in Victoria although it can fill quickly and isn't cheap. Plenty of other options available, and not far to walk for the train station. The Bad Nothing. Support live arts. I wish I could get to more! The show was amazing, staff very friendly a very positive experience had by all.
Lovely, intimate theatre. Have visited this theatre on two occasions to see premiers of new shows. I don’t live locally but it was worth the train journey.
all of the staff were very pleasant and eager to help, and our tickets were very cheap for such a high quality play, would definitely go again! however, we sat on the top row of the courtyard, and for a two story drop, i thought the barrier in front of the seats was incredibly low. especially when squeezing past people to reach your seat, a barrier that was about mid thigh height im 5'8 so not super tall felt a little unsafe to me, so perhaps one to be aware of if you have kids/ are afraid of heights. but overall it was a great visit, no other complaints! thank you!
We saw Stewart Lee in the Quarry Theatre on Saturday night. Parking across the road at the John Lewis / Victoria car park cost £5 for the evening from 5pm onwards and was really convenient. We were sat near the back of the theatre but still had a great view as the rows are tiered quite steeply and the place is smaller than it looks on the seating plan. The bar staff suggested we pre-order drinks for the interval which worked perfectly and these were waiting for us with our order ticket which was great. All the staff we interacted with were similarly helpful. I'm sure we'll visit this venue again.
The Leeds Playhouse is a fabulous theatre complex designed with the modern audience in mind. Polite and welcoming front of house staff who were happy to answer questions. Excellent facilities bar, toilets etc. I was in The Courtyard to see "In Dreams." Allegedly, I was in a restricted view seat, but my view was not restricted! The seats were wide and comfortable and with plenty of leg room. Whilst I loved the theatre, I didn't even like the show. Roy Orbison was a singer with an eight octave vocal range. The best of his songs were operatic ballads of love, loss, heartache, and desire delivered with enormous emotional heft. Here, those same songs were thrown away in karaoke-lite snatches without point or purpose. They didn't advance the plot itself a silly gossamer thin contrivance about a dying singer and a celebration of the living/dead in a restaurant down Mexico way, nor establish character. In 'jukebox' musicals, the plot doesn't really matter. However, the songs always do. Long before the end of the line was reached, my patience was exhausted.
A wonderful theatre! I saw Opera North's My Fair Lady here and it was an incredible experience from the bar staff, to the ushers to the performance itself! A 2 min walk from the bus station. One minor knit picking bit, and this is really minor. On walking in I counted 7 members of staff, not one cleared the detrius of the tables. It wasn't bad enough to be horrific but still worth noting. Anyway, go to the theatre, any theatre but be safe in the knowledge if you go to this one you'll have a great time!
