West sands beach is really a nice place to go! I was worrying about the weather on the way to St Andrews. But fortunately, when I arrived, the rain stopped and the sun came out. I feel so lucky to see the beach under the sun!!!
A popular New Year’s Day walk; for a round trip start from the Road Hole on the Old Course and take the path past the Jigger Inn along the edge of the Old Course until you reach the Eden Estuary. Follow the path along the estuary that crosses the New Course until you reach the beach. Walk the firm West Sands Beach back towards Saint Andrews. Only 2 degrees C but in the winter sun, it beats the Caribbean hands down!
Beautiful beach with views over St Andrews and the golf course, over a mile long doesn't get too busy but there is often a wind that cools the temperature.
Stunning beach Great for dog walking. They can run, catch the ball and dash into the sea. It's gorgeous! Supposedly this beach was used in the filming of the Chariots of Fire movie.
Stunning long stretch of sandy beach in beautiful St Andrews. As an alumni, this town will forever have a special place in my heart. That said having been away for so long, I completely forgot how nice the sandy beach is. Perfect for running or walking the dog as there are compact bits, and we swam on a particularly hot day where the water was very warm. It's shallow waters for about a mile so great for paddleboarding.
Wide, flat beautiful beach--great for runs or strolls. Amazing views of the surrounding area and the stars at night. Sand is sometimes a bit hard a ridged, but still nice.
Another beautiful beach with stunning views. The beach is really clean with lots of space and lifeguards on duty.
it's nice place to visit in st Andrew's. theres a nice car park and golf museum plus the 360 degree beutifull scenery of the place. it's a good day out if you stay 2hours away from this place.
Great place. Massive beach. Car parking next to it. Nice and clean toilets. Loads of restaurant's and take aways nearby. Overall one of the great beach I have been to.
A great sandy beach, if the sun is out, its lovely, if its not it can get cold but still lovely. A Hugh car park, but when busy can be in a queue to get out. A great walk if you go all the way round the beach
