Lovely restaurant in a very nice location. The food is amazing, cooked on the location and served by the future chefs of the country. They create their own daily menu, serve mouthwatering food and provide an impeccable service. The experience starts at the entrance with a very warm welcome and just flows through naturally during the three course dining experience. The place is popular and booked weeks in advance, so please call ahead. They also do lovely activities like chocolate classes, cake making and cake decoration- which are also highly recommended.
My daughter has auADHD and came to this college from an SEN school. She enrolled in uniformed public services. When she first enrolled I had a phone call from student advisor and mental health coordinator, this women had very strong opinions about young people that come from SEN background saying “Children from SEN schools don't know how to behave because they are allowed to get away with everything and it’s just not acceptable in college”. She denied saying that when confronted by the head master of my daughter’s previous school and said she didn’t recall the conversation. I know we had this conversation as it was in my call logs and I remember clearly how it made me feel. I felt like there was a stigma about young people from SEN background. I should’ve realised the culture at West Herts was wrong from that conversation. My daughter only enrolled there because it was the closest to home and had the course she required. My daughter didn’t have a good time at the college didn’t get the support she needed, learning support was rubbish. The staff aren’t trained well enough to deal with hidden disabilities. I would have conversations with the learning support and it was as if they didn’t believe my daughter had auADHD. There was a definite lack of understanding. I wouldn’t recommend Watford campus if your child comes from SEN school background.
Most of the students going to this school, go by car as new drivers, speaking to teachers and observing the staff car park is half empty. All parking near the school is always full or we have problems parking in particular car parks apparently. We have been begging for a solution or change, with no one listening. They do not care for the students voice!!!!
I left this college and moved to another one 3 weeks in because of several major problems that made my experience very stressful. I am autistic and my teachers were continually not informed of my needs, and I had to fight to get accommodations put in place over several weeks through multiple emails and meetings. This is a responsibility of the school and should not have taken so much effort from my part.nFurthermore, I had a ‘student support’ teacher give me incredibly unprofessional advice on my second day ever. After I cried once because I was overwhelmed and missed my friends, I was pulled aside at the end of the day and told I should go home and “have a hard think on whether this is the right course for you”. This was very upsetting to hear and damaged my self esteem. My mother tried multiple times to get an appointment with this teacher to discuss this but the school never responded. I tried to speak to the teacher myself about how she had upset me badly and all she said was that I misunderstood her. Obviously I know that she wasn’t trying to make me quit the course but she took no responsibility for how wrongly timed and insensitive her words were.nnAnother thing - we only had 30 minute lunches in between 3+ hour lessons which was very draining for everyone. In my new school we have an hour and it makes a world of difference to have a proper break.nnThis college has fancy facilities but no organisation or teachers properly trained to deal with autistic students.
Great open day welcoming really good range of courses, resources staff etc
