I visited the Wharf museum yesterday and quite thoroughly enjoyed it even if the museum is partly closed due to covid. The receptionist/librarian was very friendly and kind I appreciated her asking at the end why I came to visit the museum. The museum itself as stated is smalled than expected when entering the building but bigger than what I first imagined. I wasn't expecting there to be items dating back to the Roman empire and going so far as world war two. Thoroughly enjoyed learning about the opening of the Welshpool's train station and certain historical drama's that came with it. Will definitely have to take my partner and son here one day.
Lovely local history museum upstairs in the library. Some interesting Roman finds. Local railway history. Various household items from the 50s & 60s. Well worth a visit & it's free.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The Wharf, Y Lanfa, is Welshpool's library and small local history museum. Both elements are small but fit for purpose. The library downstairs has a good selection of books and a few computers available. Upstairs, the museum has an interesting range of items and interpretation. There is both stairs and a lift available inside to access the upper floor. A small amount of parking is available in front.
Review for MUSEUM not library. I visited here on a Saturday, of which they close at 1pm. I visited at 12:40pm and was immediately asked to leave with the reason "we close at 1pm and I was about to turn the lights off". She requested us to leave, therefore we left. I was also planning on donating to good cause, as it's free entry, however they lost out on that. We would've highly appreciated to just be given 5-10 minutes for a quick look around, seeing as they did not close for another 20 minutes. Disappointed.
Lovely little museum in an idyllic setting canalside.
Visited Welshpool today and this lovely gem of a museum. Situated over two floors with a lift if you find stairs difficult. Everything was well documented and very easy to read, it was a pleasure to visit this very Interesting museum situated by the canal and with free entry. It is well worth the visit.
Always loved my library and staff but not used to the new library going to visit tomorrow hopefully I can see someone I really miss my contact with my library I've spent a lot of money on internet I can't afford because I don't know the procedure of everything I just want my old library back I gave five stars because over the years the staff have deserved a hundred stars and more for all the help they have given me in the last 23years I and I really miss them thankyou.
A welcoming and extremely useful library with excellent staff. Very accommodating, highly recommended
Recommend reading these, books a real eye opener see Amazon
Went to a craft day in the half term lots of activities to do e.g craft, making coasters, find various letters around the museum. Didn't mind children running around and staff were very helpful and friendly.
