Adorable well maintained woodland packed full of some ancient oak trees, and some beautifully coloured non-native species. The woodland area also includes two ponds and a wild flower packed meadow. Great to explore for all ages, which benches nicely located to allow you a chance to take in the beauty or for a quick rest. Free parking is available all year round, however the approaching roads are of poor quality.
Lovely walk and scenery, took us hour n half to walk all way around, sat and had picnic on one of many benches dotted around, beautiful listening nature
The only thing I did not like about this place was the lack of bins for rubbish and dog mess. Other than that it was lovely! Can't wait to pop back again! Even the 6 year old loved exploring the woods :
A hidden gem. We were unsure when we got there because it looked a little forgotten about, however, the walk through the woods was lovey, easy to follow pathways, little streams and plenty of seats to take a breather if needed. Lovely views when out in the open but the jewel was the lake at end. Fish swiming and stunning scenery.
A quint and picturesque wood, great for short and medium-length walks. Nice flowers to see and fairly decent footpaths. Limited free parking available.
A Christmas Day ramble with an old local revealed childhood tales, treasured memories and delights at every turn. Old Man Swaff gave us a tour of not only the woods but the seasons, describing springtime carpets of bluebells and snowdrops and colourful bursts of rhododendron. This is a place that has grown around a lifetime, like a gnarled and mossy oak. Generations have strolled and chatted, walked their dogs and remembered the loved ones who first held their hands and introduced them through these dappled glades. Look for the names inscribed on the benches near the lower pond. As for the snippets of mischief wrought by the Wayford lads on trail and tunnel, bridge and byway, I cannot tell here, for what goes in Wayford Woods stays in Wayford Woods.
Beautiful little sunspoiled walk, with a lake and many paths to explore. There seems to be two ways to get to the wood, where Google maps took us was in from the east, if you come in this way be very careful as the track is in very poor condition with very large potholes and bumps big enough to beach and scuff the undersides of low vehicles. Can't comment on coming in from the west from Winsham however. Maybe that was the better way.
Beautiful place great walk can go around 2 or 3 times and take different routes. Just limited parking but can park in certain places up and down the road
Lovely woods. Some beautiful trees, with a good variety. There are volunteers working on it's upkeep and restoration, but much more work is required. Well worth a visit. The access road is a little rough.
It was good to get out of the wind after recent storms. The snowdrops drifts were a picture.
