4.5 stars. Three double lanes for lane swimming. Good pool. Book a 50-minute spot online. Wasn’t too crowded at 11 a.m. on a January Tuesday. Benches, hooks, cubicles in the women’s and men’s change rooms. Showers not in change rooms but on the pool deck, some in cubicles. Lockers on pool deck - bring a one-pound coin. Hair dryers free are outside the change rooms in the hallway.
Soft play at Wavelengths is nice quiet place, we had not been for 3 years which was before Better took over I was therefore very keen to see the changes they had made but didn't notice any change. It was nice nevertheless
Wavelengths is a great community resource. Two good swimming pools anď the 25m pool never gets too busy due to timed slots. Soft play is very popular with my granddaughter. I can't wait to use the gym. 'Better' leisure who run Wavelengths offers free swim and gym sessions for users aged 60+ and concessions on other activities. I love this place.
Generally the pool facilities have been really clean but twice since the start of 2023 the men's changing rooms have been quite dirty, as have the walkway by the lockers. Would really appreciate it if floors could be given a regular quick mop. It makes a real difference to the swim and general vibe. The open plan showers also seem much weaker than previously.
My visit with the children after reopening, wasn’t exactly present. The family changing room had a broken lock, resulting in other opening the door as we were changing. The floors were also far from clean, woman’s toilets were also very unsanitary. The pool was absolutely freezing cold, apparently they needed to top it up. I would of appreciated being told up on arrival, we stayed in the pool for 4 minutes and truly couldn’t stand the temperature any longer. To make something of the trip we went to the spa area, no jets, no bubbles and again absolutely freezing. We had to leave. I’d recommend telling customers that the temperature isn’t as normal when entering. Complete wasted trip and money. When I asked the staff why people wasn’t told, they said ‘most don’t mind, you get used to it after a while’
I really wanted to give this swimming pool 5 stars but I just can't. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful on our first arrival. Reception and pool are great but I felt a little grim after seeing mouse poo around the back by the spa pool. Just by a mouse trap. My children loved their visit to this pool. Its very children friendly. I would however take into account that there is a ratio of 1 parent to 2 non swimmer children I had an 18 month old and 12 year old. We were only allowed to stay if my daughter 3rd child could swim.
Went for some 'Splash' inflatable obstacle course with my 8 year old. No complaints. Enjoyed the experience.
Gym is alright, but has no culture - visitors don’t put their weight back. Huge bloke just casually left 120kg on a bar after bench pressing and went home. I wish staff try to encourage people to be polite a bit more.
Spent 30 minutes waiting to get through to them on the phone to ask if I was allowed to bring two children to swim as some pools only allow one. The operator did not know and when I asked if she could find out she put the phone down on me! That is pretty Incredible! Please go bankrupt Better and allow a REAL better organization to run the leisure centers. We are all tired of these inefficient organizations being a blight on our society.
Today I witnessed a horrific cleaning practice: the lifeguard was scooping water out of the pool with a mop bucket and pouring it over the poolside floor. The dirty water was then running off the poolside floor back to the pool complete with dirt, hair and everything else you might see. The mop that the staff member should have been using was propped against the wall. Usually a nice local pool but cleaning practices leave much to be desired.
