Lovely little rest stop off the A3 where you can buy a bite to eat. I personally had the hazy hog cider, the homemade sausage roll and the fruit scone with clotted cream and jam. I really enjoyed the cloudy cider and the sausage roll which was filled with flavour. The scone was amazing as well, warm and sweet. I'd recommend this place to eat.

An inspiring gallery, studio and home of a successful Victorian painter who lived a long life and left us his treasures. You can see his work like the famous "Blind Hope" in the gallery and an ambitious large scale "Angel of Death" in the studio. There is an excellent shop with unique gifts of clothes, paper, ceramics, accessories and books all very sensitive to the pre-raphaelites and the arts and crafts era in general. Delicious light meals of sandwiches, salads and home made cakes in tearoom with several walls there showing colourful and impressive paintings by children who were also inspired by this valuable oasis of genuine art. Well worth a visit of a few hours to see everything properly.

What a marvellous place to visit! The collection of paintings are housed in a beautiful Arts & Crafts style building. We also saw an amazing exhibition of Helen Allingham watercolours. The De Morgan collection exhibits oil paintings and some incredible ceramics. The house a short walk away holds both George and Mary's studios. I especially enjoyed seeing paintings in the studio and the pigments used by G F Watts pointed out by one of the volunteers. She was dressed in a Scarlett jacket and was very informative and welcoming. Finally we walked to the chapel. Incredible!

Good exhibition space, well stocked shop and a good restaurant with some gluten free options important to those like me with Coeliac. Possibly slightly influenced in the five star rating by the wonderful Helen Allingham exhibition that ends in a few days but no doubt there will be something good to replace it. Although we did not have time to do any of them, there are woodland walks that go out from the car park. The car park is best described as adequate, not large. Toilets were clean and modern.
