I was looking at some books for about 5 minutes in Waterstones, not realising the time and a really rude man who works there stormed really close up to me and my friends exclaiming that the store was closing in 5 minutes. But in the rudest tone and passive aggressive way possible, as if we did it on purpose. Then proceeded to shout saying that he does work there even though we didn’t say a single thing, put us off and didn’t buy the book I wanted.
We were inside looking for a specific type of children's books. Despite the large range, we weren't sure if they had what we needed, so we asked one of the staff members for assistance. He was incredibly helpful, finding us some valid alternatives. The staff showed knowledge and friendliness, which made the experience even better. Additionally, we were with our dog with no problem at all.
The place is peaceful and beautiful. It includes several book categories, but it is not that comprehensive. For example, there are no philosophy or social sciences categories. You will find just more popular and common books, here.
Dropped in to order a book by Eric Brown anyway nipped upstairs to look at the sci fi section ended up buying Rita Hayworth & Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King didn't even know he wrote it! Respect indeed
I visited this branch for the first time today, and I'll be sure to return. The books are very well-organised across both floors, making it easy for newcomers to find their way around. Discounted items were also easy to locate, for book-buyers on a budget! Most importantly, the staff were very pleasant and seemed happy to help.
Great book shop and has an ample to offer. The space upstairs is wonderful and the shop has a great range of graphic novels.
Called in today with my granddaughter for a book she wanted. The guy who we spoke to didn't catch his name, but sure he had a Scottish accent was absolutely brilliant, helped us find the book and was chatting to my granddaughter about football,. He was very polite, friendly and helpful. Great bookshop, will definitely be going back !!
Absolutely love this store. Can spend ages in here browsing. Staff are helpful. I will say though, maybe add a random couple of seats upstairs for those of us that either struggle to stand for long periods or are pregnant and also struggle after the stairs etc. That would be super helpful
Awesome store. Quite small downstairs but upstairs is much bigger. Great selection of books and gifts. The games selection is also really good from board games to quick puzzles.
Great book shop. Very inviting to browse books.
