A lovely loch by the side of Linlithgow Palace. Birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Benches and tables dotted about for a picnic. The wild life is friendly, just beware this is breeding season just starting. Birds/ducks/swans can become aggressive. DON'T let children or dogs run about near the birds . A steep walk up to the Palace from this side. You can walk along the main Street and go through the gate. There is a car park there as well. Unfortunately the Palace is covered in scaffolding and closed for renovation. Linlithgow is a very historic town, with quaint buildings. Lots of cafés and bars. Well worth a visit.
Well laid out car park. Well placed for walking to the Palace or around the Loch. Great to see the local water fowl.
I came to this place to visit Linlithgow Palace but it was under reconstruction... But this Linlithgow lake gives a nice view for it. and its a great experience for me
Came here for the Linlithgow Palace and the Loch. This carpark is right at the Loch and some picnic tables - and a playground a few steps away. Public toilet as well out of order at that time.nnThe carpark is completely free of charge with no time limit. There still were some spaces left on that sunny afternoon. Perfect location and no charge. From here it's a quick walk to the palace. But also an opportunity to walk around the whole Loch. It's a nice and easy walk with nice views of the Palace.
It was on Saturday, but we managed to find space in a FREE car park which is rare thing our time.
