Took the course to learn some new skills, and it's definitely done that. The course content is good, some new recipes and techniques, the background knowledge is useful, and you get help when you need it, both from the lecturer and your colleagues A good mix of classroom learning and in the kitchen, and the learning has accumulated over the 18 weeks, to final assessment in 2 weeks. Gulp. I recommend the college and the course.
Where do I start! Don't bother with an adult course. Sell you a dream and false promises! Was told I would be qualified ag the end of the course and would be able to find myself work with my qualifications. First day in the class room and it was overcrowded with pupil's, without meaning to sound racist, but alot of non English and not to mention a heavily pregnant lady was accepted onto the course! When in the classroom, due to mass amount of students, I never got any help when needed as there was only 2 teachers to a class of 40+. After 3 weeks into the course I was then told that the qualification wouldn't get me a job and that would something I'd have to myself! How I am to get a job with the qualification in the first place. I persisted with the course for a bit longer in the hope I might get help but after several weeks of still waiting for help on certain parts, I still wasn't getting any help as the teachers time were mainly taken up by the non English students. Basically they just took anyone onto the course to get money back for the new building . I mean, who accepts a lady who was ready to give birth at any time onto a course knowing full well she wouldn't complete the course! Money grabbing scammers which have left me with a bill to pay for a course which was a waste of time! Better colleges out there for you to join, don't just sign up for the convenience! I'd give 0 starts if possible.
My experience as both a 16-18 student and an adult student have been exceptional at this college.nnI've studied Graphic Design here for 4 years and have felt well-supported, have had my creative limits pushed, and achieved amazing grades. The courses are well structured, the tutors have industry-standard knowledge and have given me work placement opportunities that have improved my professional practice, as well as giving me experience I can put on my CV.nnWith a wide ranging portfolio, provided by the broad topics covered in each project, I have been offered an unconditional offer to attend University to complete the final year of my Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design. This wouldn't have been without the assistance of the college. There isn't a place I would recommend more!
We live in knowsley and have tried colleges closer by ie knowsley, liverpool, widnes but its a nightmare to join/register as they need you to attend open days, queue up to hand in forms etc. We both work more than full time in our own business so we aren't able to come along to open days. With warrington firstly the range of part time adult courses available is great! And it's so quick and simple to sign up! Pick a course, fill in your details, pay, and that's it your on the course! Just get there a bit earlier on your first day to get your id badge. Plus the prices are much cheaper than the colleges by us especially knowsley!
All the staff have been brilliant, from the admin ladies when I registered to the tutors teaching the courses and I.T support is second to non. I'm not very tech savvy and they were so helpful, even ringing me up and going step by step with me so I could access the course notes online! I enrolled on the BSL taster, next steps and level 1.
