Dont you even think about going to this college if you’ve got learning difficulties. Tutors can make you feel stupid if you work at a slower pace or require additional help due to your disabilities if you ask for help you get made to feel like an inconvenience. I’ve wasted nearly a year at this college doing the level 2 electrical installation and to fail the whole course due to the fact the practical exam which was 10 hours long, you don’t get to any chance prepare for as I didn’t had much support preparing for it such as I barley been taught how to test etc and my tutor told me “just watch YouTube video or read the on site guide to prepare for my exam” he also said to me rudely that “I can’t test” which I feel like that was remark against disability due to the fact I take longer to absorb information . The marking criteria that C&G implemented is pathetic any mistakes you make you automatically fail which means you’ve failed the whole course that you’ve work hard on and you dont have a chance to rectify it . This has affected my mental health as I’m trying to get my life back on track but I always get set to fail. Avoid this college at all costs all they want is your money snd if you fail you’re got to do whole year again so they can stuff it
Think l am going here Hell NO l am definitely Don after this year when l am done with Hawbush plus the is a job that is really easy to do plus l am not wasting any more of my time being lame just no l make my decision it my life after all
Walsall College is a great place to learn. It's an environment where you are supported and guided to the best form of success. The tutors are very knowledgeable and there is a great balance where you can bounce ideas off a mixture of talents. I can only speak for the Media department as this is where I learnt and did my Level 3, HNC, and HND qualifications. You have access to state-of-the-art technology in an environment that promotes your growth as a student and for your future in the creative media sector. Walsall College has a lot to offer but you have to make the most of it.
Gr8 tutors and gr8 environment. Wifi bit slow and need halal options for canteen
So I did media studies, level 2, 3 and then went on to do HE higher education and did HNC and HND. And I can honestly say it was the best decision, coz oh my god it was such a great course, the tutors especially really made this course so great, they’re so helpful and supportive and really made the course enjoyable. I also learnt so much as well like there is so much more to films and tv shows you wouldn’t even think about. I will say however it would have been nice to have a choice to chose theory or practical when studying HE, but the even when filming the equipment they have is phenomenal and so professional. And now that I’m doing my last year at Wolverhampton uni i really miss doing the course at college. But yes 10/10 would recommend. :
Walsall College was the best experience of my life ! i started my journey in 2018 I did 3 courses h&s care, media and buisness , i recommend all 3 of these courses. Because the teachers on the courses are very supportive, cared about us, build good bonds with us, understood us and looked out for us. i've have had the time of my life. The environment is very positive, lovely food, good facilities teachers are well educated, understanding and caring. The courses are so impactful and learnt alot. the teachers were highly qualified, the classes were upbeat and they cared about their students and their success. It was very clean and refreshing environment, starbucks inside too which was a bonus! learnt alot from my lessons and we definitely was pushed alot. Best experience ever x
I was a student at Walsall college and my experience with them has been absolutely awful. DO NOT go through them for an apprenticeship scheme. They ask you for documentation when you first start which disappears…even when I have had given it to them. There was a data breach of information where another student sat my exam… which postponed me from sitting my exam!! They will arrange to come, visit you at your work and not show up. Then blame you for it..I had 2 visits over my 2 years course with them. I would advise to go else where.
Alleged trainer, Cally Sutherland, scheduled an interview with me and never called. It's the height of rudeness, disrespect & time wasting to do that to people. Looks like I dodged a bullet with the unprofessional Walsall college, being as they don't honour appointments they make. Save yourself the time and look elsewhere to do an apprenticeship, there's absolutely plenty other, much better training providers, who don't mess people about and actually want the business.
I was a student here in the Media department for 4 years - from 2017 to 2021 - and I could not recommend it more. The media tutors are the kindest and most helpful people who always put their students first. They all go the extra mile to ensure that everybody understands exactly what needs to be done as well as creating great relationships with their students. They also have incredible facilities in this department which I have never seen in an educational environment before - helping students further their knowledge for a potential career in the Media industry. Would definitely recommend if you are interested in a Media-related career!
Been at the College for 5 years doing my Creative Media Production for Film & TV. From Level 2 to 5 and now taking a gap year until my final Level 6 next year. Walsall College is the one and only place I'd recommend for Media as the Tutors have been so supportive through these tough years. They're ultra professional but are sweet enough to look after you and build a bond with that you can approach them with anything so you're okay in not only in Media but life. You actually learn tons in the courses along the years, both theoretical and practical. Especially with the upgrades along the years with cameras and the Studio/Green Screen room. The tutors are very competitive to be the best department and it really shows. They 100% prove everyday that they are, if you're a nerd and want to progress into anything media related, this place is the way to go. The Tutors are very flexible and supportive to help push you in life and your future in media. They go above and beyond for everyone. Shout out to Melissa being one of the top ten tutors out of all the UK. 100% deserves to be Number One. I promise you'll never regret enrolling for the Media courses.
