I was filled with trepidation after reading the reviews but the food was just fine. Please remember it's a fish and chip shop nowhere near the coast, it will not beat your local and it may seem slightly pricey. We went just before 6pm to beat any rush. Happy to wait 15mins for freshly cooked fish. They will also charge 40p per bag so take your own if that's a concern.
Had fish and chips here Tuesday, and can find little to complain about. The fish was tasty, the batter thin, crispy and nicely cooked, and the chips were plentiful and tasty. Yes, we had to wait 10 minutes or so, but so what? Our meals were freshly cooked. Fish and chips cost £11.00 per portion, in no way excessive, and certainly not in a town where one can pay over a tenner for a ham sandwich! I'd get f&c here again, definitely.
Had fish and chips and it was good. The place is clean and the service is decent.
Was not expecting a lot reading previous reviews but was very pleasantly surprised. Yes the fish was a bit small for £7.50 but it was a quality piece of fish, cooked fresh and not too heavy on the batter. The chips were perfect!Food: 4/5
Absolutely lovely fish and chips! Waited about 10 minutes but was cooked fresh so can't complain! Staff very friendly and double checked the order to ensure everything was right. Highly recommended.
To be honest this was not a bad experience, but not particularly good either. It was quite a long wait after placing an order. Ordered fish and chips, and whilst it did just advertise as fish, it certainly wasn't haddock or cod, it was just ok. The batter was quite thick and hard, not pleasant. Chips were just ok, too many bits and not brilliantly cooked. It was also quite expensive. Circa £13 for takeaway fish and chips. That is really restaurant prices. It just did a job. For information, there is another chippy down the road at the pier, but unfortunately it wasn't open for us
I start with my negative, it's a little pricey I think personally. That's it for a negative. Chips very big and crispy with a wonderful taste. Portion size was good. I sat in with my daughter. Could do with more seats but it isn't that big inside to begin with, I can imagine this been really busy in peak season. Owners were nice and gave good service. Bit of a misunderstanding of accents on both sides, I'm from the north east which most people don't fully understand. I enjoyed my child though and that's the whole point.
Not a good experience. Firstly, sick after eating scampi - felt something wasn’t right when eating, validated during the night. Assuming either undercooked or bad quality. Secondly, expensive for generic fish and chips. Have used here before but looks like going downhill, will not be going back.
I asked for gluten free fish and chips, but they didnt do it. So I asked for batterless fish. The fish seemed to be still dusted in flour before frying without batter. Which was £8.50. Chips had lots of eyes in which you dont want if they are costing you £3.95. So for 2 lots of fish and chips I got 10p change. Incredibly expensive. Dietary restrictions: Batterless fish still has flour on it.
Food was ok, not great. You would think it would be much better quality for the price. Portion sizes are small compared to other fish and chip shops
