Stayed here at the end of a very wet final day on the Hadrian's Wall path. Couldn't recommend it highly enough from the roaring fire, comfortable sitting areas, drying room for very wet gear and lovely spacious bedroom. Really warm and homely and great hosts too. A great end to a brilliant 8 days walking.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed at the pod for 2 nights. Michele and Berry were lovely and friendly. Pod was spotless with facilities. Bedding and towel provided so clean and enough for us. Very quiet and calm area for relaxing also children friendly. I highly recommend Wallsend guest House to stay to my friends. My children really enjoyed over there. Thanks again for your friendly help and services.
We have just had 3 amazing days here! Hosts, Michelle and Barrie looked after us fantastically as we celebrated my mums 80th birthday. This is a wonderful place to stay! The guesthouse is beautifully decorated. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. There are 2 lovely living areas for guests with maps , books , games as well as a log burning fire. My parents and teenage boys stayed in the guesthouse , whilst my wife and I stayed in a pod with our dog. Throughout our time Michelle and Barrie went the extra mile to make sure we had everything that we needed. We had asked if we could do a birthday cake for my mum in the livingroom. They not only said it was fine, but provided tea, plates , napkins etc and nothing was a bother to them. In fact, the opposite was true, they went out of their way to make us feel special and looked after . Breakfast in the guesthouse was a feast with locally sourced and really tasty eggs, sausages and bacon. This really is a special place to stay and one that we would have no hesitation to recommend to anyone and everyone .
What an immaculate property. And the breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. The host Barry was extremely welcoming and couldn’t have done more. He even put my boots on the boot warmer for me.. thoroughly recommend it Rooms: My room was wonderful
We stayed here after completing the Hadrian's Wall path. The accommodation was excellent, a lovely welcoming hall with deep inviting sofas. The room was a very good size with a lovely ensuite. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the secret lounge, chatting with the other guests. Michelle and Barry were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. My wife had a great vegan breakfast. It was the best way to finish our adventure, or a lovely jumping off point. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay there.
Just had a 3 night stay which was fantastic - we stayed in Pickhill the pod with the tiny tub. Barry and Michelle were incredibly welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. The pod was spotless and had everything we needed. The scenery is breathtaking and the site is private and beautifully quiet. We would highly recommend and certainly would return! We took our dog and she was also made to feel welcome- fabulous walks on the doorstep. A solid 10 from us!
Stayed here for 3 nights with my mom and daughter in one of the lovely glamping pods. The pod was very cosy and super clean, had all the amenities and facilities needed. The area was breathtaking and offered amazing walks along the solway coast. It was just the tranquil and peaceful escape needed to break from the hustle and bustle. I will definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a nice getaway. Michelle & Barry were lovely hosts.
Arrived early evening with a warm welcome from Barry who showed me and my wife around the pod and how to work the wood fuelled hot tub. Had a brief chat with him then he left us to it. Unpacked, then ordered food from the local pub kings arms then collected it and fetched it back and ate on the picnic bench. We let our supper settle then watched love island and then went into the hot tub which was very nice bed was comfy. Morning came round then we had a dip in the hot tub again then departed mid morning. Would recommend, good people, great place to stay! Karl & Emma
My partner and I had a lovely stay in the glamping pods, very clean, super cosy, and lots of great information on the local area. We paid extra for a hot tub, which was lovely! This is a great dark spot, so on a clear night you can see so many stars and the Milky Way. We sat in the hot tub at night star gazing, and saw so many shooting stars. There is a pub, restaurant, and small tea room nearby with a selection of foods, and surrounded by the country side so great for walks. Also, only a 30 minute drive to Carlisle so you can explore. Barry & Michelle were excellent hosts, with Barry even coming to set up the fire for the hot tub when we couldn’t figure it out. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking to get away for a quiet relaxing holiday, we had an amazing time!
We stayed here at the end of our Hadrian’s Wall walk. We loved the spacious double room in the lodge, the beautiful garden where we sat in the sunshine and toasted our end of the walk, the guest lounge where we appreciated the honesty bar offerings at the end of the night, the stories from Barry about the house and the gin, and the lovely breakfast in the morning. We could not imagine a better end to the amazing experience of Hadrian’s Wall. We highly recommend this as a place to end the walk for a night or a weekend away.
