Beautiful place to stay - proper pub food with a great menu - beer selection changed regularly including local beers and specials. We also stayed the night in a lovely room above the pub. Bed was comfy and shower was lovely and hot, basically couldn’t ask for a nicer night away, it was perfect. And special mention to Sam who served us and cooked our breakfast, he was a fantastic host and lovely guy! Keep up your great work!

Well deserving of its high score. The bar staff was cheerful, funny and insightful, without being in the way. The food was delicious. There was also a lot of choice including 8 guest cider boxes, and the ale was very well kept.
We popped in for lunch , I had the fish and chips, chips were fries, not proper chips , not very hot, my wife had ham egg and chips , all lukewarm and the eggs were well over cooked, not a lot of choice, specials were OK if you like pie . No one asked if the food was OK and it was very cold in the bar . All in all, a bad experience. Wouldn't go there again.
First visit since the pandemic and we were not disappointed. Great food, as always, which was impressively hot on such a cold day. Will look forward to our next visit.
We stayed here for three nights in Feb and found everyone warm, friendly and very accommodating, we were sorry to leave. We enjoyed our breakfasts and an evening meal in this lovely 17th century inn brought in to the 21st century with the amenitiesRooms: 5/5
Excellent and interesting food with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Fine ales and helpful and attentive service - even though the pub was very busy. Highly recommended!
Amazing food, really welcoming service. All round wonderful atmosphere. Always feel awkward in pubs on my own but this was delightful.
Had lunch here. Friendly and helpful staff, it was full house and the service didn't take long. I found the burger and chips quite salty. The chips are triple fried, but the cut is so small that they just become brown outside and mushy inside, you'd need thicker chips for a triple fry. The downside of the meal was the dessert, ordered the apple and pear crumble and it was not even toasted or crispy on top. Definitely under baked. The fruit was mixed with apple sauce and the custard didn't amount 2 table spoons.
Only a short stop on this occasion but the pub appeared to be a happy and friendly place to be. Understand from others who have frequented the place that the meals are very good.
