During my first year in 2021-22 I was aware of bullying, I did get bullied but not as much now, When I was in my second year, I did Media studies, The teacher never helped out or supported me and so I went on to do Health and Social Care, I got pulled out of that class and got told I had to be put in a special needs class called GetSet, lovely group by the way so I told mum about this and went on a 30 minute rant about how my Media teacher downgraded me, I am still here and I plan on finishing with Wakefield College in 2024. If you want to send your kid here best option is to not be on an EHCP or anything. Make sure your child knows when they want. Also they allow Pronouns and you are expected to follow work based scenarios. You aren't allowed energy drinks which I find ridiculous because no one has said anything yet. Just be aware of the teachers they might bite back at you
This college is piss poor and has no structure to it at all, when I went to Wakefield college a few years ago it was shocking in the health and social care department and with other students in the art department wasting pupils time sending them home early or the teachers not turning up at all, teachers feeling students to not do as much work and then request them to do more is unfair and a waste of pupils time. WORST COLLEGE IN THE COUNTY, GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE
Very poor experience for our daughter. Little to no SEN support & tutors seem to turn up when they feel like it, which unfortunately isn't very often. Pupils are very often sent home with no notice after waiting around literally for hours only to find their tutor couldn't be bothered that day. Communication with parents is woeful, I have lost count of the number of promised phone calls that haven't happened, plus there is the instance of vitally important documents that sat unposted on someone's desk for over a year. I appreciate this is only one person's opinion, but our daughter has been let down very badly by Wakefield College, and having spoken to other concerned parties we don't seem to be alone here. We will certainly not be sending our other kids here and I strongly recommend you search out independent reviews before entrusting your future with this college, they can certainly talk-the-talk at open evenings but the reality is a bit less rosy.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming and really helpful
We go regularly. The food is outstanding. The upside is we are helping students who are training in both the kitchen and restaurant. Wakefield's best kept secret.
Well my Granddaughter attends in order to do her maths GCSE ,but so far the maths tutor failed to turn up so they we’re tutored by an English teacher, the second lesson they waited 20 minutes for the tutor to turn up then waited 40 minutes for him to get the board up and running .What an joke of a college, these students attend in order to get the grades needed in order to obtain apprenticeship in the work place but without the proper grades how are they expected to do this ?. This is not acceptable.
This college was very careless when i was studying there, i had a stroke in 2018 in class & the nurse at the time in the college told me “ the best we can offer is a wheelchair down to the clinic down the road” i needed an ambulance, this carelessness has literally cost my life as I have alot of weaknesses due to getting my clot bursting injection delayed. Huge lack of medical knowledge! I still cry about it till this day.
My daughter enrolled for the public services course because she wanted to join the police. About 3 months in she changed her mind on what career she wanted as she decided on paramedic. None of her tutors or the course coordinator told her she was on the wrong course for this. She needed to be doing sciences so that she could apply to university to do paramedic science. She wasted 2 year's on nothing. The college had a duty to tell my daughter and point her in the right direction. But instead they were more bothered about bums on seats for the public service course. Seriously disappointed and annoyed because now she can't enrol again for college without paying for it.
love this place i’m studying health and social care teachers are lovely but i always get free lunches and the ladies across at the starbucks are horrid and make you feel awful and so judged by it
Been studying here for 4 years and this is my 5th year and I feel like that all the teachers I had were so helpful gave me great help with tasks and helped me improve my work with out their help I would not have came back. If anyone is planning on coming to this college you have picked the right place for a good education
