Visited the cafe here as part of a ride up North to Yorkshire. In addition to the store they have toilets and a nice cafe. Cafe is clean, spacious and well lit. There is a big selection of food and beverages. I was there for around 11:30am and picked the fresh soup and bread roll as well as a coffee and cake. All in under £10 and after being in the cold on a motorcycle for 3 hours, it warmed me up ready to face the next part of my journey. The added bonus of a petrol station at the exit it great.
Excellent supermarket in Newark. Good service and staff very helpful. Lovely deli and freshly cooked chicken to take out. Nice little cafe with small menu. Good selection of plants to buy outside. Well worth a visit.
Very disappointed with the choice of foods. We were looking forward to the pie, mash and peas they used to have. Had cheese and onion toasties and chips. The toasties were pretty tasteless and not hot. The chips were tasteless, wooley,, only warm and not at all crispy. Tea weak and not very hot, coffee not hot either, even with my jug of warm milk. Won't be coming back.
The own brand fruit will basically be infested with bugs or unripe/mouldy. This has happened to me 3 times and it was expensive for a small tub of berries.apart from the prices,the rest of the own brand products are good and the bakery is nice.
Used to love this store . Too many jobs worth working there now spoiling what was once a really enjoyable shopping experience . Examples ? ....nLast year , wanted to purchase a roasterie crash chicken to take for picnic . Asked for it to be cut in half . Told if I had it cut into two halves , I would have to pay for two half portions at a higher cost around £2 . I said just put it in one bag no problem . Told can't do that , has to be wrapped in two bags as half portions and priced accordingly ! .nExample 2.....nWent to buy joint of sirloin beef for Sunday dinner last Saturday . The piece we wanted was on a tray with the Sizzling Saturdays offer of 20% off at the till . Bonus ! However......nA guy purchased 4 steaks off the said piece before our turn but it still left a piece just perfect for our needs . I asked to weigh it for the price which was acceptable . The lady behind the counter said she would cut it into steaks . I told her it was for a dinner joint and not necessary. To which she pointed out if I purchased the very same piece whole , I wouldn't get the Sizzling Saturday offer and have to pay full price as the offer only applied if it was cut into steaks !!! . Words evaded me . I have never witnessed such ridiculous selling practices ever .nWaitrose was actually saying , ' you can buy this exact same piece of meat 20% cheaper ...... If you eat it how WE tell you to eat it ' ! .nAfter 30+ year trading here , it's time for goodbyes. And to the idiots in the boardroom at head office making these decisions..... For goodness sake use some common sense you fools ! .nn*Concerning the reply below from Karen . I DID speak to your management team on the day in question . And they verified the colleagues course of action was correct ! . So please don't patronise me with txt book replies of false concern . Thank you .
