Popped in here on the way past from our canal holiday. lovely staff, great pork pie and scotch eggs. Their kebabs looked delicious.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. However had a mixed experience with what we bought. Family steak pie was delicious but the prepacked smoked and unsmoked back bacon that we selected from the chilled cabinet outside was inedible. Very very tough and the smoking on the smoked bacon had a very strange taste to it. It was only afterwards we discovered the bacon was also “none U.K.”. If I call again I will try the loose bacon inside the store.
Beautiful little butchers, traditional family friendly, with a great choice of meats, fruit and veg. We grabbed some burgers, kebabs, chicken and steaks for our family bbq and every enjoyed! Give them a try you won’t be disappointed and the team are so welcoming
Brought a pork pie yesterday and it's the best one iv had for years definitely going back to buy some more and want to try some other stuff they make
Lovely village butcher. Came away with rashers, black pudding, sausages, burgers, chicken and leak pie, strawberries and two apple and pork burgers. Something for everyone!
My son in-law pick some Tomahawk steak it was the best steak I have ever had . Thank you
Fantastic food and lovely people
I'm not a local but was visiting family for the weekend who live in the village and thought I would pick up some pork pies ect. The people I was visiting are in their 90's longer than the shop has been there and can't get out and about to do they own shopping, so relaying what they had on the phone took a bit longer. The butcher had the cheek to say "hurry up love we have people to serve", bearing in mind I was more than an hour before close sat 3.30pm, there was only one family queuing outside the shop and they the previous two customers before me, they took nearly 10 minutes to chat to which caused a queue. But I was the one holding everyone up, what a joke. As someone not even from the South newcastle area, my first impression of the place was shocking. I hoped my family enjoyed what I bought but wouldn't be going back again due to the customer service I received. From the looks of it they only have the time for their regular customers.
Been to village meats for the last 10 years chris and his team are first class there meat is top rank chris is a old school charmer perfect in this day and age just like the old days. seen that some comments on here saying his pies have no taste his manners are rude never in a million years your taste buds need testing as for manners chris and the counter staff are awesome some people need a sense of humour. This is a true reflection of village meats Steve
What a wonderful shop! We are travelling on the canal and had been told about this and their pork pies and huge pasties. They have not disappointed and the staff were brilliant. In fact, so good that we are coming back on Friday when we pass!
