Just returned from a lovely stay at this hotel. It's unrivalled location is definitely the star quality of the place and parking the car and not using it at all for three days is perfection! Although the parking is a little bit limited the staff worked very hard to ensure we got a space. Overall the staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful.nOur room 11 was smallish and at the front of the hotel but it was warm, quiet and comfortable. The lights were a bit dim which made reading a bit hard! The bathroom was wonderful - modern, clean, and lashings of hot water.nBreakfast was lovely in the conservatory. I particularly enjoyed the coffee.nThe provision of a boot room was wonderful and helped us keep the damp and mud at bay.
We had a lovely 3 day stay at the Victorian and have to say it was just perfect! Alex was really friendly and helpful, amazing breakfast and the hotel itself was spotless. Location was brilliant, quiet but really short walk into Grasmere itself. Would not hesitate to recommend and definitely will be back in the future.
A top class hotel in the beautiful village of Grasmere. Our room was excellent. We had a loft room, with a huge full length windows overlooking the mountains. Very nice breakfast. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and very polite. We had a great 4 days!
Arriving at Victorian House after a very wet 35km walk through the hills, we were met by a very helpful member of staff. They took us to the drying room, hung all our clothes and kit up and showed us to our room. After a quick shower we hit Grasmere!nnThe room was very comfortable, breakfast perfect. The downstairs area is very nice, perfect for an afternoon with a booknnIncredible value for the quality of service, accommodation and location
Stayed for one night whilst hiking the Coast to Coast trail a year ago. Encountered a somewhat hostile environment coupled with zero service during check-in, and zero heating in our room plus in the three vacant rooms that were checked accordingly. Following more than 20 emails, we were finally given a refund about a month ago.nThe one issue that continues to amaze us concerns the stargazer room that we stayed in. We have travelled extensively, and have never experienced a fire exit route that passes through our hotel room and bathroom ! Once the fire alarm is triggered, the stargazer room door is automatically unlocked. This situation begs the question.......will the fire alarm be triggered while I am using the toilet or having a shower ? The communication from the hotel, re this fire exit route, was zero and between the hours roughly of 9pm to 6am, there was no staff on duty to co-ordinate any possible evacuation.nThe other concern was that the fire alarm could have been triggered falsely, with the intent of theft from our room.nCertainly a stay to remember, with a total lack of enjoyment.
