Really friendly staff and I loved the food. I asked for extra custard 'swimming' with my pud and they didn't let me down. All delicious and my first meal in a pub alone and felt very comfortable
Lovely cosy pub. We had a game of darts and pool. Not done this for a long time. Can't wait to get back soon.
Very friendly and hospitable staff. I had rib eye steak and it arrived just as I expected for a medium steak. Desert was excellent too, wasn't the usual frozen microwaved type, very tasty! Reasonable selection of draught beers which were well kept. Good soundtrack in the background too. Definitely recommend this pub.
Tonight we celebrated my 60th birthday with my family at the Vernon Arms. Lovely food, brilliant service and a great atmosphere which was very reasonably priced. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Excellent food and excellent staff. It was the second Thursday of the month which houses a folk band. They were really good and worth a look.
The service here is warm, considerate and friendly every time. The food is authentically homecooked fayre, the right sized portions, flavoursome, perfectly prepared and not too expensive. Decor is tastefully traditional, with an open fire surrounded by chesterfields and live flame candles on every table lending to the welcoming environment. Somehow the Vernon Arms is managing cleverly to please football fans, drinkers and restaurant goers, without anyone impinging on each other and there is a great atmosphere of people relaxing in comfort. Highly recommend this very well run place and will be back time and again.

Lovely big open fire. The food was delicious and the young barmaids and waitresses were very helpful and helped with food choices due to my allergies. We went for a drink at lunch and came back in the evening for food. The only negative was the older woman with the blonde shoulder length bob. Miserable, abrupt and bordering on rude when trying to talk to her. Get rid of her and the pub would be highly recommended and the chefs produced lovely food.
What a find....out walking around and came across the Vernon Arms...you sometimes know when you walk into a decent proper pub !! Very friendly staff ...good selection of beer... The food looked great although we only had "cheesie chips !!" . Definitely return and spend longer next time....well worth a visit ...keep up the good work..
It has been some time since I was here for a lunchtime, but what a very warm welcome, very festive and the deep fried Brie - OMG it was gorgeous. Will be booking for an evening meal very soon, hope the fire is still well ablaze, super cozy
