Pepper Shack combines Verna's Trinidad Favourites with Local Seafood and a good selection of non-Spicy Alternatives. John keeps it all together with a warm family welcome, relaxed service, a well-stocked bar and plenty of cool music from the Caribbean and elsewhere.
We're open every night over the Summer and other holiday periods plus most nights for the rest of the year:

We can open other times by request for 4 or more guests. Private Bookings welcome - up to around 30. We can also cater for Children's Parties until early evening.
Jamaica Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat and Rice & Peas are the Carnival favourites, joined by Spicy Prawns, Ackee & home-made Saltfish plus our own Jerk Pork Skewers, Masala Mutton, Trinidad Chicken & King Prawn Curry and the local Shack Scallop & Monkfish Curry.
New on the menu are home-made 8oz Steak Burgers and Babyback Ribs each served with in a traditional American style or with a Caribbean twist.
The local menu offers Chef's own Pate, Goat Cheese Samosas, Legendary Lamb Shank and Westcountry Mutton Pie. Our Desserts include Banoffee Pie, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Spiced Rum Panacotta, Fresh Pineapple, Chocolate Gateau and more, served with Cornish Ice Cream.
Vegetarians are offered Pumpkin Patties and Goat Cheese Samosas among the starters, followed by Sweet Potato & Black Bean Curry, Chilli sin Carne and Jamaican Jerk Tofu.
For children, we offer 4oz Burger and Chips, Chicken Nuggets and Spaghetti Bolognese - all home-made and just £5. For just £2-50, we'll add an Ice Cream to follow.
We source as much as we can from local suppliers - Brixham seafood, local meat, Westcountry goat, Dartmoor and Bay's ales, Healey's Cornish Cyder, Cornish Spring Water, Devon's Sharpham white wine.
The bar offers Red Stripe and Peroni lagers and Devon ales from Dartmoor and Torbay itself. We have 10or more different Caribbean rums, Tequila, Armagnac, Cognac and Calvados plus an excellent Cocktail Menu. Wines come from around the world with great house choices from Chile and South Africa.
Caribbean decorations include Verna's own Carnival costumes and period posters. Family rugby associations are evident in the framed rugby shirts. Pepper Shack sits up to 30 or so diners and is available for Private Bookings on any day - lunchtime and evening.
