Recently had an amazing stay at this little gem of a B&B. We travelled over from Kent for a weekend to meet with friends, and my husband found Vera's Kitchen. We stayed in The Stables, and the room was lovely. We arrived quite late due to the travel over, but we received a message from the hosts to let us know where the keys were. There is a local shop a couple of minutes walk away, as well as a nice selection of little pubs and eateries. The breakfasts served at Vera's Kitchen are truly something else. They were absolutely delicious! If I could stay every weekend, I would. Will definitely be returning in the near future.
Went for breakfast at around 9:30 and was seated immediately. Staff are so kind and service was very quick. Food and drinks were amazing, all freshly prepared with local ingredients. Definitely recommend!Service: 5/5
My wife and I have just spent two nights at Vera’s B and B. What a fabulous experience. We stayed in the Hayloft which was nice and warm and lovely. The breakfasts were fabulous. But most important, all of the staff were welcoming and friendly and the service was first class. Thoroughly recommended.
Popped in for lunch. We had lovely burgers, and the tasty original gangster and shooter sourdough sandwiches. All the food was fresh, the meat locally sourced. Friendly staff too.Service: 5/5
Four in a Bed winner........not a winner in my eyes. I was really excited to stay here for a mid week wedding, with such great reviews, an award winning cafe and previously being a Four in a Bed winner But a number of things let this stay down quite considerably. The positives were: Friendly staff, a quick & easy check in process with them even having the rooms ready for us a little bit earlier, so we could get ready for the wedding. All the options for food included for breakfast in the morning was very good. The negatives were: A very cold room with the only source of heat was an electric heater which had to be on all night.....not very eco friendly. The toilet pan overflowing & cistern refilling every 10mins throughout the night, I can understand that is nobody's fault but should be checked daily to make sure no one has to endure a sleepless night. And finally the handyman starting work on the property at 8am directly outside the room, again I can understand things need to be repaired but considering this is a B&B which you have guests staying trying to rest, I think 9am minimum is a reasonable time to start work! Having brought this to the attention of the kind and understanding team working that morning, who were apologetic and totally considerate of the night/morning I just had, they had to contact the manager Emily, to which only a 20% discount was offered. I personally don't think this was a fair amount of compensation to receive considering the negative implications of the stay but was told this is all that Emily has agreed too. All in all I was really disappointed with this and it really let the the whole stay down, and I wouldn't stay here again considering everything. Hopefully these things can be rectified & taken into consideration prior to anyone else staying in the garden cottage of Vera's Kitchen.
Nice and clean room we stayed in the stables, friendly staff and fabulous breakfast for a very competitive price! I was both excited and worried about booking our first trip away with our baby but I have to say our stay was perfect. We had a great evening tasting tapas in the patio tasty, interesting and well presented and really indulged on breakfast one of the best we ever had I will definitely be recommending the place while hoping it won't be fully booked next time we visit!
Absolutely love this place, unfortunately have not stayed but couldn’t wait to return to the restaurant after lockdown. Camped nearby at Bridge Campsite but dined twice in one day met a group of friends for breakfast and then returned for tapas. Both meals were delicious, good quality ingredients and the service very friendly and efficient. The breakfast menu is extensive and the tapas were not your normal traditional dishes which made it even more interesting. We particularly liked the smoked beets! Couldn’t fault it and would definitely return and recommend. Thank you Emily for arranging.
Stayed at this B&B whilst doing the Thames Path walk. Excellent coffee and cake. The breakfast, included in the rate, was great. Lots of choice. Would recommend the Veggie breakfast. There is a small courtyard to the side in which to sit and have your drink/ meal and which also leads to the 3 rooms. Room is small but comfortable. Can be a little noisy early morning as they set up for the day in the courtyard.
There is no doubt that the room and breakfast is excellent. The fast WiFi was essential for planning my days as phone signal was sketchy when out and about. I had mixed feelings about this place. The B&B feels the secondary business. Most B&B hosts are welcoming, ask about your visit and offer suggestions. Not here. I was shown to my room by coffee shop staff that offered little help. There was no rack of leaflets on nearby activities. Indeed during my stay staff focus was on restocking the bar, planning for Tapas and taking delivery of a pizza oven. I only met with the owners when housekeeping was missed and I needed a towel. There's no private car park. They have one 'keep clear' space in front of their gate that I was assured wouldn't land a parking ticket. All parking same side of street is free, 2 hour limit. Opposite side of the street is free, no time limit. This did cause me confusion on arrival and inconvenience during my stay, so worth knowing. I would stay again, but would look for alternatives first.
Lovely night in the Stables, gorgeous breakfast as always. We have known Vera's kitchen since our first date in September 2015 and visit them for breakfast a few times yearly. As it was my partner's birthday, I book us a room as a surprise birthday gift to him. Breakfast Al fresco in the sunshine was a bonus! We highly recommend this place, the welcome is always superb, the staff smiling and helpful, the food very very yummy ! Thank you Vera's kitchen!
