“Ayu”= Life, “Veda”= Science/Knowledge, hence Ayurveda means The Science/Knowledge of life.
According to Ayurveda the Universe is the amalgamation of five elements: earth,water, fire, wind and sky, humans being a part of this is inturn comprised of these five elemets. It is an inseperable part of the cosmic universe.
Further more, to study and understand the subtlest of the human body, from the microscpic to the macrocosmic levels, these have been done by the basic principle which is called the Tridosha Theory. “Tri”= Three, “Dosha”= Humour. the three humours are respectively Vata Pitta and Kapha.
