Such a fantastic little gem of a museum. We love local museums like this because they tell the story of the area so perfectly. Love that the Dagenham Idol is there on display as well. Highly recommend if you’re interested in the history of the area or if you’re looking for a little day out for the littles as there’s a lovely playground next door, a neat little garden, and a yummy cafe.
This was a lovely find. Fascinating house with some very original exhibits. The Curator was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and it was a great way to spend a couple of hours. The coffee shop was a tad disappointing.
Went on a backpack activity day and it was really fun. Lots of puzzles and hunting to do on the bag and my youngest had a lot of fun. The staff try hard to make the place interesting for young visitors which you don't see at many museums. Well done Valence House we will be back again soon I am sure!
Lovely walk, museum is fab and interesting.nSadly, my mother and I went for lunch in the cafe. The lady serving, Kim, was extremely rude and obnoxious.nShe kept complaining she was 'manning the fort alone', but at this time, it was only my mother and I there. We weren't in a hurry and would've understood things take a little longer if you're alone.nBut she kept mentioning it, then was offered assistance by another staff member, to which she declined.nThen proceeded to be extremely rude to my mother and I.nIf this is what she's like all the time, which seemed very evident, then I can't see people returning.nIts a shame, as other staff members were lovely. She actually frightened my mother with her rudeness and we felt really awkward being there.nI don't understand why they would employ someone with this awful attitude. My mother and I are very polite and don't expect to be spoken to in this manner.nDisgraceful.nIf you want more custom, maybe train Kim with some manners and etiquette in dealing with people. Horrid woman.
